Thats because 93 days, 3 hours, and 14 minutes ago, - I quit smoking:-) after 18 years. To me, it was much more of a mental thing than a physical one. Really didn't have any problems- just did it.
I am guessing I probably spent $15,000 +/- on cigarettes in the last 18 years, probably more - dont remember what a pack cost back in 1993 -amazing.
Good for you, keep it up. Of the peope I know who are over 50 years old I can't think of any who still smoke. I think you either quit in your forties to early fifties or else.
thanks Robert - Kids kept calling me a butt head- so it was time...
I saw a sign yesterday for a carton of cigarettes: $47!
Wow.
That's a long way from scraping up 50 cents for the cigarette machine in the bowling alley. (early 70s)
oh yeah,
Congratulations!
now, make it stick this time;-)
Good for you and keep going.:good:
I did that last year, only I had been doing it since 1968, a total of 42 years. In about 13 days it will be one year, with a little bloop last July. I am really surprised that was the only one. and caused by circumstances more than anything. I was on the patch and couldn't get one to stick because of sweating out in the field.
Excellent! 3 1/2 years for me. At the point you're at, it only gets better, don't worry, it's over.
Don
Working on it now. My goal is to be done before or by my birthday on Jun 25th. I think I can do it, I have certainly cut back. Prolly get some gum to help me through the cravings.
My quit date was yesterday. So far so good. I'm using the patch now.
That gum is good stuff, when I was quiting I always had a piece next to my gums. They are a lot stronger than you realize when you are a smoker. I tried a piece a few years ago (after not smoking for 15 years) and as I soon as I chewed it up it nearly blew my head off, got dizzy, and nearly threw up.
Thanks everyone for the encouagement! - You can do it Andy - It is a complete waste of time and money - thats what i kept telling myself - the urge is gone...
good for you Blake! - one day at time - then you won't even think about it
Congratulations everyone quitting. I quit in 1989 after around 15 years of smoking. I am sure glad I did. I would most likely be in very bad shape right now had I not.
Be careful with that gum, my wife is addicted to it after over 10 years of not smoking.
By the way, Mr. Goodwin, I went a long time thinking that you had extremely long curly hair until I actually looked at your avatar more closely and realized there was a tree behind you....lol.
adam - thats funny- I actually shave the top every day:-)
I am on day 10. It is just now starting to get easier. Congrats.
Anyone can do anything so long as they believe in themselves and their will power and positive reinforcement from friends and family always helps!!! 😀
Congratulations to ALL of you guys for a HUGE accomplishment!!! :good: :hi5:
Congrats!
Be ever vigilant, you can do it!
and, no, they don't all come back.
Several days ago I watched a lady in a hospital gown push her IV trolley ahead of her out the side door of the neurological ward and across the parking lot so she could have a smoke. And I know all of those patients have been warned that smoking will greatly affect their recovery time.
