Well, Kent would admonish us to be analytical and pragmatic in ANYTHING we do. So let's look at the evidence....he uses some fairly "well established" equipment...and collects his data with an SDR33...AND is apparently skeptical of "non-standard" processes (spelled N-E-W)...You know, it might be a while before we seem him!!
I hope not. Maybe if we bait him with a post titled "RTK has been proven to be more precise than post-processing" he might stick his head up...:snarky:
Anyone missing may be having trouble getting connected. I got in on my Win7 machine, but not the XP machine I have been using most of the time. Right now I'm on my wife's Vista laptop, and I can only get to some of the pages of the site. My old bookmark doesn't work. I got here using Google search and was able to log in. But if I click on "Forums" to get to the right category for a site issue, I get the message:
An error occurred during a connection to surveyorconnect.com. SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length. (Error code: ssl_error_rx_record_too_long)
That's the same message I get on the old machine. Has there been any discussion of how to fix this?
Hey everyone. I'm new to RTK GPS'ing. I just took one out of the box, turned it on, and with little effort and no thought on my part, I'm getting results that are way better than manufactures specs. From what I'm seeing, the results reported by my DC are better and more reliable than PPK. Under trees, near buildings, under bridges, in caves, underwater, upside down, RTK just seems to be better that PPK in every way imaginable. A single one-second RTK epoch seems to do just fine. All I need to do now is pick coordinates off the GIS map, stake to them in whatever coordinate system my DC defaults to, and I'll be the most accurate surveyor on the planet!

BTW if you connect wires to that butter knife you can "recharge" a 6v dry cell. Let me know how it goes.;-)
