A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it. Fifteen hundred years ago everybody knew the Earth was the center of the universe. Five hundred years ago, everybody knew the Earth was flat, and fifteen minutes ago, you knew that humans were alone on this planet. Imagine what you'll know tomorrow.

Felix: "That isn't spaghetti, it's linguini!"

Oscar: "And now it's gahbage!"

OK, more of a scene than a line, but if you know it, you'll smile....

"All that matters is that today, two stood against many ..."

Conan the Barbarian.

I find this handy to say at the start of a survey. And here's the full scene, which is typical of a typical survey:

  • Taggart : What do you want me to do, sir?

    Hedley Lamarr : I want you to round up every vicious criminal and gunslinger in the west. Take this down.

    [Taggart looks for a pen and paper while Hedley talks]?ÿ

    Hedley Lamarr : I want rustlers, cut throats, murderers, bounty hunters, desperados, mugs, pugs, thugs, nitwits, halfwits, dimwits, vipers, snipers, con men, Indian agents, Mexican bandits, muggers, buggerers, bushwhackers, hornswogglers, horse thieves, bull dykes, train robbers, bank robbers, ass-kickers, $hit-kickers and Methodists.

    Taggart : [finding pen and paper]?ÿ Could you repeat that, sir?

@richard-imrie

I was never a fan of the movie versions, but read all of Robert E. Howard's books back in the 70s. Good stuff!

The last time that I moved (2006), they didn't make the trip (I think that I had loaned them all out), BUT Karl Edward Wagner's books did make the trip (I think that the Kane series is one of the best).

"Walk this way"

OLD Butler (uncredited) to Nick Charles (William Powell); The Thin Man (1934)

Igor (Marty Feldman) to Dr. Frederick Frankenstein (Gene Wilder); Young Frankenstein (1974)

I wish that I could find these two clips on YouTube, they are classics.
