As of today there's a student rate on RPLS.com. You can read the blog post about it here: https://rpls.com/students-join-rpls-com-for-25-a-year-instructors-join-free/
Students and apprentices in a surveying, geomatics, civil engineering, or related program pay $25 a year instead of $100. They get posting, the members-only rooms, private messaging, and the Classifieds and Jobs boards, with a Student badge on the profile. Not a Find a Surveyor listing, though — that one stays with the people out taking work, and it's waiting for them when they get there.
Instructors and program faculty join free. If you teach, or you know somebody who does, that one's on us.
Here's the part I need help with. Students aren't reading this forum yet — that's the whole problem. You are. If you've got a kid in a program, somebody on your crew taking night classes, or a local college you've spoken at, please send them the link.

Every application gets read by a person, and the person is me. I ask for something showing current enrollment and I actually look at it, usually within a day or two. No automated check, no school-email-and-you're-in.
And while I've got you: how did you get into surveying? Which program, which apprenticeship, who talked you into it? I'm putting together a list of schools worth reaching out to about this, and the ones worth contacting are usually the ones somebody here came up through.
(If the program you came up through isn't in our Surveying Resources directory yet, that's a good place to put it: https://rpls.com/resources/ )
