Just passing along this message I got on my email for a fellow surveyor.

LW Survey Engineering & Design Co. crew was working December 15, 2011 in northeastern Collin County Texas when a Trimble R-8 GPS Receiver was taken. Serial number ends with "...2462"

If you see or hear anything related to this theft please contact Lee Marlow at [email protected]

Let me guess: an unattended RTK base.

Theft is a bummer, but if you laid your Rolex down on a street corner and drove away, would you really expect it to be there when you came back for it? Unattended base stations that aren't locked down may as well have a "Free!" sign on them.

Stealing is stealing. On one hand you're right, but still, stealing isn't OK!

I was out in Hooper Bay a few years back and had the base set up out in front of the camp ... rover tells me "Excessive movement at base" Got back to it and had 3 youngsters climbing the tripod legs!
