Just got this email from our local OSLS. I really get aggravated when this happens...

Bennett Surveying had a Topcon hiper-lite base unit stolen in Tulsa yesterday at
36th St. North and Garnett.

If you see or hear anything please contact them at the number below

I hate to see someone's working gear get stolen, but at the same time I'm amazed at how many crews will leave an RTK base unattended. Do they really expect it to be there when they return?

You know Jim I think it might boil down to economics...I've seen several of the 'big-boys' trucks here lately that just have one fella out trottin' around taking shots. It is hard to keep an eye peeled on your base and pop a MH lid at the same time.

I'm by no means knocking solo operators..I've done plenty of surveying by myself..I just prefer to keep some help around. At least once a week I either stay by the base or have someone else stay there.

Better safe than sorry.
