Somebody had to get up there and make sure this would work. 😎
Working in the VDC group of a large GC lends me some pretty cool things to be a part of.
@holy-cow I saw it on yahoo.com as well. Pretty cool for the attention it has gotten.
Very cool. Jobs like those a re very few and far between.
I do not recognize the crane in your pic but saw the report saying one of the largest in the world. Total respect for a telescoping boom to a gantry style boom wow.. That is impressive.
I did get to work with the 7th largest Crane in the world (depending on list some have it at #3 which is not right). On the Hawk Falls bridge on i476. It is special in that it can be completely transported by tractor trailer through ordinary highways. Name escapes me. Ledherer 11000 or something? (Not sure what the 11000 means it is neither the lift capacity nor the distance) The rows of ballast before assembly were as long as a couple of the booms. It could handle like 500 tons out to 500 feet IIRC. It had 200 tons of ballast on the back of the crane and another crane boom off the back with a platform holding another like 400 tons of ballast. All of it was metric tons though. Every plate labelled it explicitly lol
That was some scary stuff. Changed my underwear twice the first day.
Not a big fan of heights and it was before my Certified Work from Heights training lol. Mad respect for anyone willing to do that kind of work.
Hats off to you sir
