She was born just before midnight, last night.
No complications.
7 LBS Zero ounces.
The kids measured how long she was. I did not get the number.
We have not named her yet... we wait 8 days, to do that. It is way funner to name a child, after we kinda get to know them. John the Baptist was not officially named, until the circumcision party, at 8 days. Well, we borrowed that tradition, and it lets Rachel get on her feet good, and participate. And, it lets the baby "Introduce herself".
It's been a long 9 months, for Rachel, through the heat of summer, and quite a bit of nausea.
We are thrilled to announce!

Congrats to Mom and you,
Nice looking kids
Have you considered Javadette for a name?

Just a joke Nate
I do think about why there aren't many girls called Eve. Is there some biblical bias against her name.
Adam seems to be a popular name through time.
Well, congratulations. I sort of like the idea of not finalizing the name for a few days. It beats the heck out of the very old joke/story involving an alleged Native American tradition of naming the baby after the first thing seen by the parent upon exiting the tepee, wigwam, whatever. Soaring Eagle, Black Crow, Running Waters, etc. That was the explanation as to how a certain fellow had acquired the name Two Dogs ****ing.
I'm guessing a Biblical name may be considered. The key to doing that is to make absolutely, positively sure that only good thoughts will be connected with that name. For example, Onan would not be a good choice for a boy.
God Bless all of you.
Steve
Beautiful!! Congratulations!
Keep the same thread, and just bump it to the top every so often when it needs refreshing..... It save "new posts" energy.
Congratulations Nate.
How many is that now, 8?
I've said before and I will say it again; Nate The Surveyor, you are the richest man I know!
Congratulations; a new baby is the most precious gift of all. May you enjoy every moment...
Dougie
Welcome to the new youngest child. I can give her tips on being the baby (my Mother still introduces me as her "baby."). I am 5 of 5 in the birth order, my father called me the caboose.
We had two names picked out for our youngest (didn't know the gender before birth) but changed to a different name after birth, we didn't wait 8 days, though.
This makes me smile. Happy Friday man.
Congratulations to you and the family!
Congratulations Nate! Your baby came last night just before midnight and my Javad arrived 12 hours later hahahaha
Radar, is it ok to plead the 5th?
When we are out and about, folks ask that too... is this # 8, # 9, etc. I usually feign ignorance, and ask the wife....
It is # 11.
The girls badly outweigh the boys now. 7:4, when expressed as a ratio...
And, that is the REAL reason I am sort of promoting the Javad gear.... I am gonna need some sons in law, that know how to use it!
🙂 Foggy, Donald T, Got any sons? 🙂
On a more serious note, Everybody dies. Not everybody lives. Make good use of your time on earth, cause it's not a long time.
Nate
Congrats Nate!
We have seven sons, and 15 grandkids. Joshua, Jedediah, and Jacob were born at home. They are all a blessing.
You know you are into home birth, when (ho boy, should I say this?)
Your girls learn about sex, baby's first.
Your boys learn about babies, before they understand sex.
Your children already have seen cows, cats, puppies, come into this world, and just take birth in stride.
I'm gonna quit here... I don't want Wendell to ban me! he he he

Yeah, it becomes a family thing. But it's been that way for a long time.
We have gotten away from laying out our deceased elders on the dining room table for a viewing, though ...
Nate, you remind me much of one of my side-rod back from my timber felling days. His last tally was 10 kids. They always waited a week or so to name each kid so as to get a feel for the kid's character before naming them. Each kid not only got a formal, conventional type name, most every one of them also received a nickname which generally stuck with them well into adulthood.
I knew most of the kids by the following names:
"Mitt"
"Em"
"Tiny"
"Dooboy"
"Noodle"
"Biggen"
Congratulations!
May she live a fulfilled life in good health and many days of happiness.
Much love.
Fantastic Nate!
