Hi, I'm Walder Franco, this is My first post in this forum. I finish my
Surveyors studies in 2015. I'm a new surveyor. I want to learn all about land survey. I want to buy a total station and a collector.

Which one you recomended me?

I only have USD $2300 en budget.

And...

What advice you could give me as new in this profession?

Thanks to all.

Great forum.

Welcome. You will get some answers. Probably not all the same, though. One thing about those who participate here regularly is that we are very diverse with both our experiences and our backgrounds. Nearly everyone will be cheerful and helpful with those things where they have extensive knowledge.

Welcome Walder. (Sorry I can't advise on equipment to buy. I think it depends a lot on exactly what kind of work you plan on running out and doing. I came up through the ranks. But you might want a different set of equipment if you staking out vs. geodetic surveying, and whether your planning on doing work as one man, or if you're going to be working with others)

First, welcome aboard! You can jump right in. There are all kinds here. Liberals, conservatives, and SURVEYORS! (A few engineers too!)

With that budget, I'd suggest:
A TDS data collector, or a Carlson Data collector. And, a USED Leica Total station, that was in good condition, and maybe needed new batteries. One of those with NARROW beam. I have a Leica 307-R. The R designation means reflectorless.

And, a couple of prism poles, and prisms. With Bipods.
But, buy CAREFULLY from Ebay. There are scammers in this world.... posing as surveyors etc.

Something like this total station:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/LEICA-TCR-805-5-TOTAL-STATION-ONLY-FOR-SURVEYING-/151946118834?hash=item2360b1c6b2:g:ZBcAAOSwKtlWiraX

And, since you are from WAY out of town, folks are going to be more hesitant to deal with you, due to customs, and other difficulties. Transactions require trust, and trust requires relationship, and relationship requires truth,,,, ie, I don't lie to you, you don't lie to me, and we BOTH have to eat!

So, Welcome, and maybe you will find what you need.

We bought one of these new: http://www.ebay.com/itm/TOPCON-GTS-3-10-Total-Station-/181957189326?hash=item2a5d7e5ece:g:~1cAAOSw5ZBWMdp5

It's heavy by today's standards, but it has served well for over 30 yrs. It went to shop one time, to have the bearings tightened, and to get an optical plummet replaced, and we had the shop put 2 speed tangent screw in it, because we liked them, but it has served VERY well.

BLM also uses this style, and it is a solid system.

WAY over there, I'd suggest a reputable shop to clean and tweek it's adjustments, before shipping to you, but they are a good gun to use. I have used ours for MILES!
