Hello From South Park!

It's an approximation of the reality versus the cartoon here in daily life.

Best Regards,

Hey Jason.?ÿ Although I've lived in Oklahoma for years I spent a good deal of my childhood (early '60s)?ÿover the hill from South Park in Buena Vista.?ÿ It's beautiful country for sure.?ÿ When I lived there the only thing the South Park had going was grazing land in the summer and snow drifts in the winter.?ÿ?ÿ

One time near Christmas we were heading back from the Springs?ÿon Hwy. 24 and got caught in snowstorm.?ÿ We were dead on the road for all that night until noon the next day when the plows finally got out there.?ÿ We thought we were alone, but when the sun came up we realized there was about a dozen cars that had all huddled together waiting for the snow plow.

Fond memories.?ÿ I'm sure there's more folks up there now, but I'm guessing it can still snow like crazy. ??ÿ

Hey PC,

BV is a world of difference.?ÿ The sky is more blue, the temps are better, and they have that amazing river with all the other activity too.?ÿ I live across from the South Fork of the Platte River.?ÿ The Snow isn't the adversary, the wind is.?ÿ Luckily, because of the wind, I rarely have to shovel snow because it gets scoured away so quickly.?ÿ?ÿ

I'm always torn about where I live versus where I want to live.?ÿ Being at 10000'MSL is alright though when sprinting through airports at sea level.....trade offs I suppose.....

?ÿ

?ÿ

Jason

Thanks Fl/GA!

?ÿ

I spent some good time in my formative years in Augusta and developed a love of the outdoors.?ÿ I also learned that chiggers suck, venomous snakes are fun, and compass work for kids should be a requirement until they prove otherwise.

I think BV is around 8000'.?ÿ?ÿ When we moved down to Oklahoma I joined the track team and did great...for one year.?ÿ

I'm old now.?ÿ?ÿA few years ago?ÿI was at the pass on Trail Ridge (RMNP), my seventy year old sister and I walked a few hundred yards to get a pic of us standing by a July snowdrift.....I almost needed the EMTs to get back to the car....

Speaking as a nearly life-long Coloradoan with a cabin in nearby Tarryall, CO, that's still about all that goes on in South Park....

?ÿ

And a warm welcome to @Jitterboogie!

Hello from nearby Middle Park, Colorado! As an avid South Park fan, frequent traveler through "South Park and North Park" Colorado, and lucky enough to survey from time to time all over this state, I will offer the following fun facts:

In at least one South Park episode, the famous "South Park Cows" played "Middle Park" in a sporting event.?ÿ

In reality, the several small towns from South Park can meet the several small schools in Middle Park in special circumstances, but it is not regularly scheduled event.?ÿ

The three "Parks" of the Rockies were likely named by the Hayden Survey. When the "first" white explorers crossed the immense Front Range of the Rockies, they must have been equally impressed to discover vast, flat "parks" lying within the great, seemingly endless granite peaks. Each "park" takes hours to drive through. My Middle Park takes about two hours to drive through, and it is the smallest of the three "Parks". Not your typical neighborhood park. South Park is the largest of the parks. You need a lot of time to drive through it. My county is bounded on three sides by the continental divide, I live at 8,500', and very often work above 9,000' in my daily work. I live 10 minutes from Winter Park/Mary Jane, and 30 minutes from Rocky Mountain National Park, but, I am always in total awe of the great valley of South Park, and of the GREAT endless mountainous ranges that surround the Park, all of which appear to loom 14,000 ABOVE the floor of the valley. I can not wait for my next opportunity to look for a few boundary lines in South Park! I can't wait to finally meet Cartman -?ÿ
