I recently had a post in a private conversation edited.
A word that I had used was edited to read " ******* " rather than the word that I had typed.
Granted, the word I had used wasn't appropriate for polite company, but I wasn't in polite company, believe me; I was talking to another surveyor:-P.
But seriously, folks.
Was that conversation monitored or what?

The software filters out certain naughty words without the help of moderators.
Thanks, D.J., I suspected that.

For now.
I just made some adjustments to allow naughty words in private conversations. It makes sense, since they aren't public. But if I get complaints, I'll have to put it back the way it was.
I understand and support the need for "filtering" inappropriate language, but it can be carried too far. A few years ago we were surveying for a proposed sanitary sewer line following Dicks Creek. Sure enough, our e-mail filter would not accept it. We had to change the name to "Richards Creek" for all e-mail correspondence.

There are some words where you just have to leave them be and hope for the best...
