Ok, so, we were having trouble with the new server. It had some really cool new features and cutting edge software installed on it. But, unfortunately, the forum wasn't playing nice with it. So we moved the whole site to another server (again) with some more run-of-the-mill software. To make up for the performance loss with the run-of-the-mill software, the new new server has a super-fast hard drive and more RAM. So far in my testing, it seems faster than the old new server anyway...
Anyway, I'm sorry for any inconvenience anyone has been caused by our recent musical servers game. I think we are in our permanent home now. Emails seem to be going out properly and they don't have any of the weird errors in them that we were getting on the other new server.
Please let me know if you notice any problems, I want this place to work perfectly! 🙂
Note: You may have noticed that your read threads have lost their color; unfortunately, this is a side-effect of the move. You may also have had to login again.
And thank you to everyone who has contributed in one way or another -- I couldn't have done any of this without you.
Did Not Have To Log In Again
I did not notice any proplems worth writing home about. The back button action was slow but that was minor.

I did not have to log in again, nor was the history thingy screwed with. Had you not said anything, I wouldn't have noticed it at all.
Thanks for the hard work Wendell.
I did have to log in again and was not able to determine from the message board that anything had changed, except that I was only able to see land surveying posts. You might want to post this notice under the land surveying category, otherwise other folks may not realize what has happened.
Did not need to log in and the threads/posts viewed are still colored. Wouldn't have known anything had changed.
One time yesterday I clicked on a post and suddenly some weird message appeared saying access had been lost. I hit back and then hit a different post and everything was fine.
I logged in late last night when you had the maintenance message up.
I just figured you being nice and offering RPLS.com a little traffic...;-)
This version is the best yet (for me)...
... the initial loading of the first page is very much quicker than the others before.
I might just be able to make this my homepage again.
Keep up the great work!!!
Need more Beer Money?
Knew you were up to something in the wee hours of the morning when I got your page message that some maintenance was in progress.
My computer appeared locked in the sleep mode this morning as it did not do its usual restart after a major update. I am sure it was me overloading my memory, as usual.
The forum appears fine and loads very fast.
definitely better, went from 30 seconds down to 12 seconds, back to where you were
Jim
Thanks! I'm glad it is working out well. 🙂
Very quick, Wendell, even on my poky DSL connection.
Thanks for the good work!

Wendell, It appears The Whole Internet Is Slowing Down
I notice a lot of pass over downloads. Get the cursor anywhere near some headlines and WHAM! it is being downloaded without a click on your part. Those downloads take extra bandwidth because they are loading much more that the story the headline proclaims, and it gets to be impossible to get back out of them. On some the back button just reloads it again and again. On those I find it is quickest to just quit the internet and try again being more careful on where the cursor goes. Those unwanted and excessive downloads crowd everybodies bandwidth. No matter how fast your server sooner or later you pass through somebody else's turf to get to us and vice versa.

Wendell.
Working fine in So. Cal.
You don't need to apologize too me. I am sure pretty much everybody on the forum feels the same. I may never meet more than a handful of the people on this forum, but my personal and professional life is better as a result of this experience and the thoughts and opinions others have shared. You are the mix-master that made it happen.
Thanks in perpetuity!!
Wendell, a little help, please
My computer did an automatic update and did a restart. When I opened Beer Leg, I ended up at Surveyor Connect. How do I get back? The URL says www.beerleg.com.
Wendell, a little help, please
Sorry, I just now saw this and I'm looking into it.
Wendell, a little help, please
By golly, Beer Leg is now Beer Leg.
Thank you.
