Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Today seems OK. But I frequently have the same comparison between this site and others.

This site has always loaded really slow for me. I have a newer computer and can't even view this site in Internet Explore 10, but it works on Google Chrome, but is just slow.

On Opera on a Debian VM on a fast connection, I get a lag before the first snap, which can get lengthy. The page then renders instantly with ad media fully functional. I get a second snap that loads the SN icons, which seem to lag a little.

It is ALWAYS slow for me. I work around it. I have no idea why and Wendell was really good about looking into it, but it's the only site that loads slow for me.

This got hashed out a long time ago and I think it had something to do with the Facebook interactivity because that's when it seemed to have started. I don't bring it up cause I don't want to look like I'm harshing on Wendell's site.

It's running slow for me, too. I just talked to the "boss" about it...he is going to look into it as soon as he gets back from his meeting. :-$

I can appreciate the comments about not wanting to complain about the site, however today things seemed/were noticeably slower, hence my post- more to let Wendell know what I was perceiving incase something may have occurred recently.

I suspect most tweaking of this site occurs during non peak times and some stuff can have unintended consequences that does become readily apparent.

It has loaded slow since I began visiting it, a little annoying, but the content is worth the wait!

Facebook is another annoying thing that my friends and family do, but I do not.:pinch:

Thanks for the site!

I think it's better for me now than it was this morning. Once in a while I say to my wife that the site is slow today, but mostly I'm with the guys who just ratchet the innards down a few notches.

Cheers,
Henry

Thank you for the feedback! 🙂

This site will never be speedy as long as it's in this older-style software. The hope is to one day convert it to a better system while still maintaining the look and feel we have here. We certainly don't want to make the mistake others have made when "upgrading".

Site is running extremely slow for me this morning, WIN7 using Chrome on a fairly fast connection.

Not complaining, however it is slow enough that if I didn't know better, I would just give up and move on, wait times in the minute(s) range.

I'm still seeing intermittent lags, sometimes selecting a post will take up to a minute to load, other times it's almost instant. Not sure where the culprit might be, but I do notice on the status bar at the bottom it says waiting on surveyorconnect.

FYI -- I have done some database optimization and a few other tweaks. I'm seeing a very noticeable difference from here, but this may not be the case from all locations.

Furthermore, I'm seriously considering an upgrade to the server, allowing an additional core of CPU processing power. Since the forum software itself doesn't use model coding skills, the CPU may help make up for that until we can perform some more major upgrades in the future.

Yes, getting frustrating. Expected a slowdown when I went satellite but it wasn't bad. Now it is slow and sometimes will not update.
