This forum loads very slowly for me. Others do not. This has been the same for several months now. Is it the same for everyone or does anyone know what I can do to speed it up.

I have the same problem. I get about 10 seconds of "waiting for surveyorconnect.com" before a page loads. It's something that cropped up a few months back.

I'm thinking that most times it's your AV program checking out whatever you just clicked on......the ads slow everything down.

We haven't had much time to look into it with my mom being sick and us not being home. I'll ask Wendell to take a peek at it when he gets back from the shooting range. Still might not be able to do much from our motel (limited internet) but, will try our best.

Not to worry

I have been making do for a while and will continue to be patient. It is the only site of several I check in on that exhibits the problem so I do not believe it is related to AV. And slow is relative, it beats the old DOS days not to mention the telegraph!

Mole Asses are fast on the surface, got to be quick when you jump out the front door to get a BB into them.

I noticed it being slower only the last days,
and when hitting the Back button of my Mozilla browser has no effect,
I have to click it a 2nd time to actually take me back to the previous page.

Noticed the same thing with the back button, wasn't like that until a few days ago. Hitting it once makes the forward button appear, have to hit it again to go back.

On a few occasions Beerleg loads slowly or very slow to not loading at all.

The last couple of days, I have not been able to stay logged in. It will timeout after as little as 3mins and I need to login again all thru the day and night if I want to keep current with the postings.

Whether it has anything to do with that or not, Firefox is real testy lately. It will crash at the drop of a pin.

:'(

Indeed,
the Back button works with 1 click as supposed,
speed is average I feel.

That is the drawback of using this particular forum software. It will likely always be a little slow.

Things seem to be running faster (I would have no complaint either way)

Did you jiggle the wires, restart some hardware or clean the gunk out of the mouse?

Beerleg running better now

Yes, we did all of those things. 🙂

Then we created a script that caches the Recent Posts box on the home page because we discovered that it was sucking up a ton of database queries, thus backing up the system and slowing it down.

Then we created a "cron job" that automatically repairs and optimizes the database every night. We found that because of the amount of activity this forum gets, the database was getting slower and slower, but optimizing it helped dramatically. So rather than do it manually, we created some automation for it. Look at it like your hard drive -- it gets fragmented and you should run a defragging utility from time to time to keep things running smoothly -- it's a lot like that but for the database instead of the hard drive.

Seems lots better. I noticed it lagging too, but decided to just wait and not worry about it. Took it as the amount of people logging in and posting was taking it tool. This day and age, we get impatient for water to boil in the microwave. Thanks for spending your time on such a trivial thing!
