Unless my browser deceives me, that entire thread dealing with the land in Harmonyville Pennsylvania has been disappeared down the Memory Hole. That doesn't exactly encourage participation in any serious thread. Carry on with the Reader's Digest version, though.

It was a quite good thread. Needed about the last 1/2 or so deleted.

Yes, there were a few posters who contributed less than nothing to that one and it's annoying that the serious discussion disappears just to erase the moronic comments. I see it as an editorial failure.

The person who started the thread did not come back after the first day. I do hope she understood the answers.

So, if you had very limited time to work on a community website, while still trying to run a much-more-than-full-time business, you are telling me that you would read every word in a 14-page thread to find out what was good and what was bad? And then actually go through the process of breaking out the bad from the good to save the thread?

If I recognized that thoughtful commentary adds value to the website, yes. This is your platform to run as you see fit, but letting the moronic posts crowd out the useful content isn't a winning strategy in my view and most of the last half of that thread was dim, obviously completely untethered from the actual topic of the thread, and from the usual suspects.

We will have another chance to cover this ground.

Wendell has donated significant time (and I suspect money) to this wonderful site. I, for one like to allow him time to pay attention to other (sometimes more important) endeavors, such as his beautiful wife and actual money making "stuff". And let us not forget any recreational activities Wendell might enjoy, such as eating, imbibing in his favorite adult beverage, whatever.

I, for one, don't show my appreciation for this site enough. If I thought I could do a better job (or even as good a job) as Wendell (trust me, I can't), I would be at least offering to help. That being said, Wendell can and should run this site as he sees fit. If I had what I though would be a useful suggestion, I would offer it up. Otherwise, I only have praise for how this site is handled.

It is strictly from my morbid curiosity that I wonder, "who posted the last word"?

@ Wendell was the thread intentionally deleted?
(Kent has a hard time forming a direct question)

Que sera sera. A little clean up in the aisles is necessary from time to time. We will continue quite well without that thread. We would continue quite well in any case because we all are better simply by participating here. About 90 percent of that thread was of no long term use.

The thread is definitely gone. But I did find this on the floor as I was sweeping:

Everybody is making such a big deal about this thread I may have to go back and actually read it. If I do manage to find some time for that today or this weekend, I may attempt to clean it up and resurrect it.

You need to borrow some hip-waders before you venture in there....
