Are there any differences in hardware between a Trimble R10-2 base vs rover model?
If the hardware is the same, what would the price be to upgrade a base model to a full rover?
Thanks!

I just bought one this week, and there was a receiver price, and then a base-rover price added on about three times as much as the bare receiver. So I don't know what the separate rover/base upgrades would be. They are all the same hardware.?ÿ

We bought a R10-2 a few months ago. ?ÿOurs can be used as VRS, a low power radio base/rover system and a base/rover with a high power radio. ?ÿI think, but am not sure, the radio to allow a base/rover setup is extra cost. ?ÿThe units are identical in our case so the base and rover can be switched around with no difference. ?ÿI think itƒ??s all a matter if they have the built in internal radios or not. ?ÿI canƒ??t tell you an upgrade price, youƒ??d have to check with a dealer.

Thank you for your replies!

I had just bought a R10-2 and didn't have time to test it very much as our newborn daughter decided to arrive five weeks early in December =)

I got an answer from a Trimble dealer in Poland that there is no option to just purchase a base receiver, but as John wrote above he got separate quotes.

Now I have tested the reveiver and it was just a matter of changing the GNSS profile from base to rover in this particular receiver. So I am satisfied with the purchase.

That would be the only difference is not having a radio to transmit I thought anyways. Cant imagine that being that large of a price difference.

I test drove the R10-2/R12 and heads up. I had it on a bipod and turned around to talk to a homeowner and it blew over and landed on a brushed 0.5" branch about 0.5' above the ground and it put a hole in the titanium or whatever its made out of case. Trimble charged me $3000 to replace the case!?ÿ

Far as I was concerned it failed the fall test! I'm just kickin stones for my stupidity.?ÿ
