As the title says im about insane with the latency issues I've been having. The video should explain what is going on currently. Top left latency up and down....

My Setup
Carlson Brx5 units with latest firmware
Internal microhard nL-400 radios both set to 1 watt (maximum) firmware updated.
Or an External Topcon Srl35 running anywhere from 5-35 watts of output power and firmware updated.
SurvCE 5.0 firmware and version is beyond what techs have at Carlson....
Brand new antennas and batteries. The external has all brand new cords.
So I've changed frequencies to see if it was interference and no luck. It does it from Western Washington all the way to eastern Montana. I feel like I can rule out location. Everything is new and updated. Doesn't matter if I use the internal or external radios. I've switched base and Rover around. It happens 25 feet to over a mile away from the base. I was thinking I might have failing internal radios, but both of them starting to go???
I've ran 1 second out the box for almost three years with these units and a couple months ago it started this.

Make that top left. I couldn't read the data collector display until I viewed the video full-screen on my monitor.
I wish I had a solution to your latency problem, but it's way outside my wheelhouse.

Corrected and thanks!
Hi NW, probably something you've checked but under the base and rover rtk tab in survce is the message type the same for both. RTCMv3 is best for my Sokkia kit but I have reset it to an old default of RTCA which caused problems. Likewise under the receiver tab is the position rate identical for both? Basic 1Hz seems to work fine for me.

In the settings portion of the collector all my settings are done as per Carlson recommendations.
But I have changed the messaged types from RTCM 3.0 to CMR and that made it way worse and ROX didn't work at all. Those are the only message types I have available.
Position rate I have messed with. Always at 1hz but have tried 2 and 5hz with no impact on the latency.
This is a crazy guess: I have seen similar when base radio has FEC checked and rover does not.

Ohhh I will be checking this Monday. I am sure it is on for both but that little box is easy to overlook. I've also loaded my same presets I've used for a long time over and over. Unless somebody was pushing buttons....
I've started at these settings so many times hoping I will see something or it'll just reach out in smack me at some point.
I think I may even dump everything out of the collector for equipment presets and start from scratch.
Take pictures of your rtk tab and the configure radio screen (the little gear button beside the device type) for both base and rover and post them here.

So here is a link with pics of the setup screens. Hope it works.

Try deselecting all the Glonass satellites. I had a latency issue a while back and it was Glonass related. Is the number of sv's display jumping from say 7/16 to 13/16?
Perhaps the baud rate should be the same. Mine don't work without them being the same. I have adl radios not the srl. But what are the options for radio mode?

I caught it once jump from something like 17/21 down to 9/21 and it went into float but after a few seconds back up with SATS. Also when it dropped out the latency went higher than the normal "2-12"seconds...
I've thought about it being maybe bad Sats but everyday and spanning from Washington to Montana to keep getting the same ones?

I don't think it is baud rate nor the radio modes. This does this with me running the internal radios on base and Rover and if I run the External with the base and the rover with the internal.
I'll get photos of the options in the menus tomorrow.
Latency is a measurement of time since the last correction was received. I don't think the glonass option has any bearing on the latency.
Do you run on assumed coordinates? I sometimes have an issue with latency when I have a job that been scaled up to ground coordinates.

Are your radio programmed for Narrow or wide band. Does your Base radio RX light ever blink?
From my desk I think you have one of two problems. Your getting stepped on or your radios don't have the bandwidth to output so many satellites at 1hz.
Helpful image Leica made. Still applies to your radios.
Not to revive an old post, but I just got my units back from the shop (China I think). After this post a few days later we sent the units off to be checked and repaired if needed.
Well it went to a couple places in the US and then hitched a ride on a slow boat across the sea to visit Hemisphere. They were finally diagnosed with failing radios. Just short of 6 months to figure out failing radios....
On the plus side of the long wait they lost everything but our units. So we have new everything with extras now.

I always appreciate the follow up. We don't always get that.

I do to. I hate finding a topic with what seems to be the exact same issue and it is abandoned. Figured here wouldn't be so bad to revive a topic with it being resolved now. I think the majority of us appreciate all the information we can get.
