Thanks guys, that is the reason I am thinking of this for myself. My crew is using the latest greatest Leica gear and I have been using the legacy gps receivers when needed. I liked the compact nature of the LS setup and I am usually going out into typical canopy for our area to recon or verify existing control.

I have always thrown out the vertical in canopy shots, so was just curious how close the LS vert in a fixed solution was.

Adam, so it is a simple computer conversion routine to export LS points and import into Carlson?

One other question I have is the LS use of sim cards for RTN setup. We are plugged in to our local provider's network and I would want to continue to use it with the LS. Is this a simple hardware/software setup?

Thank you,
John

The LS will export what Carlson needs, no conversion is needed. The LS can have an internal GSM modem installed for use with a sim card. If you use Verizon as your carrier then you will need a mifi device or your phone as a hotspot.

I am fairly new to GPS and have never used a javad. I don't understand how this receiver can get a fixed signal in canopy like the pics show?

Well, I am a long time RTK user. My old RTK is a Topcon Legacy E. It could not work in those places. Nope. Waste of time.
Without the details, Javad is:
Tracking MORE channels, than anybody.
Analyzing more bad data, than anybody.
And coming up with the right answer, in impossible places.
That's your short answer.
Nate

JMH,
I can assure you that the LS can obtain great results in the canopy which I have seen the users post photos of. Not just a RTK position solution, but a comparative static solution as well.

It is really something that you need to see in person. There are some good surveyors that would be glad to help. You can find a list of these people on the Javad website under support.

That's pretty impressive. Not trying to be skeptical just trying to understand how. Thanks for the input.

JMH, I would be glad to meet up with you sometime and show you the equipment. From your picture you are somewhere in the mountains, I work in the mountains and foothills of NC.
