With regard to my recent post on the value of one GPS receiver I am wondering how many of you use ten or more receivers for control on a small rural survey of approximately one acre.
I am surveying for the local historical society so that we may obtain a grant for restoration of an old schoolhouse there. I have one survey grade GPS receiver and post process CORS data through OPUS.
My intention is to "geo-reference" my survey and calculate coordinates in the state coordinate system.

I don't think you're going to find anyone who throws that much gear at such a small project. I'm scratching my head trying to figure out the intent of the question...

That number will be zero.
In your original post you asked:
>If I had two receivers then I could make simultaneous observations of the two points and save time. Other than the length of time to complete the project is there any reason that two receivers are better than one?
Other than the length of time? Huh? The real advantage to having two receivers is the ability to measure a vector between them.

No one does.
But, around here it would be pretty easy. Just record static, and download the static info from 10 nearest stations from the WSRN...post-process, and there you go.
I Traverse All Control On Such Small Projects
I use 3 GPS if I need SPC and/or elevations. Why 3, because I can and it is sufficiently redundant in case one observation is bad or poor. If an NGS monument is in the vicinity I use a 4th on it.

:good:
And if I setup 3 in the vicinity, I will setup a few over there on the other project and another couple over somewhere else. I can just let them cook and make little networks.
Maximum that I used in a past project was just 7 gps receivers made up of both new & old units that were lying around the office. It was a rushed project so we had to throw everything we had into it.:-/
