Can anyone give me a quick run down of features introduced in the Hiper line.
Starting from original hiper up to the last models that shared the same chasis.
I'm looking at spec sheets, and there didn't seem to be very many changes between the units besides things like bluetooth.
But what is confusing is the different models with matching specs. The Hiper Lite vs the Hiper + for instance. Does lite just mean it has a less powerful radio?
The thing about the original Hiper line is that they all have very similar specs, but Topcon used Firmware locks to disable many of the features --- until the user paid extra to unlock them. So, a Hiper Lite and Hiper Pro might have identical specs based on what was *available* in each unit, but the Hiper Lite shipped without Glonass, onboard memory, the second data port was locked, and had a hard range limitation for RTK that limited it's ability as a Network rover, among other things. It was a very basic RTK Base/Rover with limited range, but expandable for a price.
There are some hardware differences, like Radio power and bluetooth, and some did not have Glonass available at all, but most of the differences can be found in the firmware options.
The only way to know for sure what is available on any given Hiper is have the seller run a program called PCCDU.EXE, and print the receiver options.
Hiper lite is limited radio range and a 915 spread spectrum radio. Hiper+ is a receive only pacfic crest radio. Hiper pro is a send/receive satel radio. Hiper II is a sokkia rebranded as Topcon. Hiper Ga is GPS/Glonass with digital radio. Hiper Gb is GPS only with digital radio. If you have a 35watt external radio then a Hiper+ or maybe a Ga, is what you want. If you don't want any cables then the Lite ,pro, or II is the choice. Need to get a print out of what is turned on/off in the OAF file before buying one. Hipers are great little units but I have moved on to strictly Javad and absolutely love the Triumph-1. His best yet. Don't understand why anyone would want to pay a middle man (Topcon) to buy his units anyway.
Thanks, that was helpful.
Thanks for the info. I didn't realize the Hiper+ was a one way radio. Makes sense. Yeah, I'm surfing the used market for a RTN rover. I've never seen anyone selling a Javad. I've never seen one out in the wild I don't think many people use them. Heard good things here, though.
All Hipers are just yellow Javads.
