We have a pair of x91+s. For the most part they are great, but every so often we run a static solution and the HCN file (the raw file) does not convert to RINEX through the CHC Converter.
I had the problem with both units today and I tried uploading to OPUS. OPUS converted to RINEX and provided me with decent looking results that inverse very well to the old traverse information.
1. Anybody with CHC have the issue of not being able to convert?
2. Any way to pull a RINEX file from OPUS?
3. There are Trimble boards hiding inside and I have the option to export to Trimble DAT. I found a converter and perhaps this is this is the way to go.
Thank goodness I pushed the issue and made them observe for 2 hours... (we are outside the RS polygon).
I have two OPUS X90 units, and I do, once in a blue moon, have a similar issue. I usually go into the Configuration tab, and undelete those occupations, and try downloading the files again. It usually works. Once ina awhile, if I have a file that won't convert, I will "undelete" the file, and try downloading on another computer, and it usually works.
It has only happened probably twice since December of 2013, so it is a rare occurrence.
I have the X-91s I had this problem on a few occasions. I contracted Mark Silver at Igage and he sent me a new version of the download tool with a different Rinex Converter this seems to have fixed the problem. I think that the latest version of their download tool now has the different Rinex Converter in it.
I have two X90 OPUS units and have not had any problems however I don't use them all that much.
I am sure that Mark Silver can help you out he is very good with support.

I believe that there is an issue in some of the older CHC RINEX converters that shorten occupations on some HCN files. I believe that the latest version 2.1.5 works with all files. This issue seems to affect files that have been collected in the past few months.
If you are using the iGage Download tool, the latest version (Build 9405) includes the latest RINEX converter. You can update your download tool with the link under [ Updates ] on the x90gps.com website, or with this direct link [ http://x90gps.com/out/DownloadTool/9405/setup.exe&apos ;">Latest version 9405 ]. Once installed, you can launch the latest converter from the 'HcRinex Converter' button on the 'Settings' tab.
If you are NOT using the iGage tool, you can download the latest RINEX convertor from this web folder [ http://x9gps.com/Tools/Utilities/HCNtoRINEX/2.1.5/index.html&apos ;">HCN to RINEX ]
I believe that either of these solutions will fix any file conversion issues, however if you have a HCN file that won't convert properly, if you purchased the equipment from us or not, please send me a note (perhaps with the HCN file included) and I will make sure that you get a solution quickly.
I will post another reply with the secrets of the HCN file in a moment.

HCN RINEX File Secrets (...so you did not hear this from me...):
If you have a CHC receiver with a Trimble engine:
X90 -> BD950
X91+ -> BD970
i80 -> BD930
then the HCN files that your receiver makes are actually a .DAT file with a 1024 byte header pre-pended to the binary .DAT file.
You can open these Trimble based HCN files in Notepad and explore the header. Sometimes/Many-times (depending on the content in the header) you can actually submit a HCN file to OPUS and TEQC (the front end of OPUS) will automatically figure out that it should use the file as a .DAT file and you will get a solution. (This means you could run TEQC directly on the HCN file and use TEQC as the RINEX converter.)
Sometimes it won't work, because the ASCII header will confuse TEQC, but the CHC RINEX converter should always generate a RINEX file from the .HCN which is just fine.
