Does anyone know of a website for Leica survey brand equipment where you can anonymously enter serial numbers to check on equipment? When viewing ebay, many times you can find/see/locate serial numbers, and if you want more info regarding the equipment you can go to your personal Leica MyWorld login and enter the serial numbers. Problem is, if the equipment happens to be stolen you start getting emails/phone calls from Leica crime detector people. I do not want/need this type of hassle in the event I decide to check on an item. Many times, after I learn more re the equipment I wouldn't want it anyway. But, for this degree of curiosity regarding a piece of equipment, I would just as soon not have to be burdened (or worse yet, to be thought to be possessing stolen equipment). I do not consider myself the police and I certainly have better things to do than to sit at a computer all day/night just to be the world's guardian of Leica equipment. Let the police/ebay/Leica setup some sort of staff to do this for the world.
