Words of Wisdom are often not wise and are just sayings said by people who say them. After many repeat these infectious "sayings" they become psychological facts.
?ÿ
The fact that many people say these sayings does not mean that they become right by simple repetition. In fact, most things that people say are wrong. Take for example the phrase "water always flows downhill" which disregards capillary action.
?ÿ
One would rather say capillary action can occur in the spaces of any permeable material, such as soil, and can cause water to move upward. The movement can be caused by the forces of adhesion, cohesion and surface tension. Water will flow up until the force of gravity is too much for it to overcome.
?ÿ
So, it may be better to study groundwater hydrology for wisdom instead of philosophy. Or better yet, skip the stupid metaphorical language and just say what you mean.

Historic boundaries and conservation efforts.

And if you think about it, a vocabulary works in the same fashion. You introduce a number of syllables and utterances that are purported to convey a thought meaning, or idea, when the language is constantly evolving, there can be more than one definition, and the meanings fall out of use.

But the English language, with the right few words within the lexicon, you can convey in the simplest of terms (compendious), all that needs imparting.

Ok. Sewer flows downhill. Capillary action is hindered by fecal solids, and the continuous efforts of flushing comodes.

Is that better??ÿ

(Ow! Don't hit me!)

@rj-schneider

I've never eaten it but have coated myself with it. Don't understand why they say don't eat it. Hell I've eaten lots of those little white salt packages they put in electronics as a gift, along with about 10 gallons of library paste and I'm perfectly sane. ?????ÿ
