Continuing Education Classes

I have attended many conferences but my favorite session was one led by David Ingram. He talked briefly about his antique instrument collection, show us lots of tools of the trade (200 yrs ago) and led us on a field exercise where we ran a traverse with Chain and Compass. We then went back into the classroom and computed our traverse with old trig tables and charts. The session was very informative and interesting; no one was sleeping in the back.

[USER=7070]@StLSurveyor[/USER], I am glad to hear your feedback on that kind of class! I am setting one up like that in the TX panhandle for next spring, and I am hoping for positive reviews. That helps me feel like I am on the right track. I Am just in a spot where at the moment I feel like most of the surveyors I meet in the CE classes would benefit more (and sleep less) in a hands on type setting. Lectures are stuff they can get online, or if they come to a seminar with several lectures available, they end up sleeping thru at least one. By having a hands on portion, they at least are up and participating, and hopefully, either the instructor or another attendee says or does something they learn from that way.
