I had registered for the ASPRS/IMLF conference to be held in DC on March 23-25, just got word it is canceled. I had registered for two ASPRS workshops, they are going to try to do those remotely.?ÿ
I was also planning on going to FIG in Amsterdam in May, but I have held off registering or buying a ticket as I think that will likely be canceled as well.?ÿ
Hope this crisis doesn't last too long. I am sure that sooner or later I will get the virus (most of us probably will), but I really think it will be mild, despite being fairly old I think I am in decent shape. Let's hope it doesn't cause a deep recession, I am already seeing signs of that...I don't even want to look at my retirement account...

They keep talking about people over 60, with no reason given for that age.?ÿ Is it really an age thing or is that just a stand-in (stereotype) for being in poorer health??ÿ And that isn't "old" any more.
It is good to be concerned, I advise staying away from crowds and especially mass transportation.
Yep, I too believe the stereotypes are false...
I will be 70 later this year.
Typically I am tough as nails, I fight off most everything with little ill effect.
Yesterday I went to our long time family doctor, she as been treating me for anemia. Lots of lab tests, and diet changes, etc.
My wife asked bout the virus. Dra Anna had a big laugh, she said it is obvious that I am super resistant to most everything, not to worry.
My wife and I will both be 75 this year, barring some catastrophe. I read the headline that CDC recommends that people over 60 stock up on basics and prepare for a long stay at home.?ÿ
That may be excellent advice, but, quite frankly, I was offended. The numbers show that older folks might get sicker, but that's true with flu and any number of other seasonal illnesses. Ol' Anthony Fauci is in our age group; when I see him locked up in his opulent digs, I may conform.
As for now, it's business as usual at the old teacher's table.
