We've all worked in conditions that have been less than ideal, or even comfortable. I'm talking about weather primarily, but we sometimes encounter cultural or societal situations as well that can cause varying degrees of discomfort. It doesn't matter really what causes our unease...

What I really wanted to talk about was our "happy place," but I'm doing a poor job of introducing it.

I worked under unfavorable conditions today, meteorologically and socially, but I'm home now, where I always knew I would end up at the close of the day and where I love to be, with wife and soft music, a nice fire and mild intoxicants.

I always get back here, but i sometimes forget where I'm going, along the way, and I get impatient. Big mistake. It only makes me crabby until I finally remember that cold is only a sensation and awkward is a temporary embarrassment.

Ah... happy place. I hope that you all are there as well.

Don

Know what you mean. Had a good chat with an ex-repo
man on the sidewalk today who spotted a tow truck circling a parking
lot. Brought back good memories for him. Got to know
how to become friends with dogs by rubbing hot dog in
your armpits before giving it to the dogs. I can't
give you more details or I would have to - oh never mind.
He said he had big balls and was from New York City.

Where I like to be... right here... right now.

Good post.

Funny reply.

B L dot com is my happy place.

Now out into the wet weather conditions.

But as you said, I know I will be back home soon.

Some may think I'm crazy, but I enjoy the adverse conditions of inclement weather and less than suitable terrain, or neighborhoods. I thinks it's because of the challenge it offers and the fact that it will only get better. 🙂

Evidently your challenges haven't been severe enough! Can I tell you about the early 70's, 60 miles southwest of Prudhoe Bay, drill pipe breaking like icicles in a 40 mph wind? Anywhere in the lower 48, anytime is NICE!

I think our individual "happy places" are more about attitude than locale.

Generally, I don't look forward to the perils winter: snow, ice, frost, cold. During the last few weeks, though, I've been surveying with the snowmobile and using the snowshoes quite a bit. In reality, I've enjoyed the last few weeks immensely. Most people would LOVE to do what we do on a daily basis.

(PS I'm hoping the recent thaw doesn't melt all the snow!)
