Denver Pyle had 263 acting jobs, many being Westerns.?ÿ From the Sheriff of Amarillo in 1948 to Maverick in 1994.?ÿ Many simply remember him as Uncle Jesse in the Dukes of Hazzard.

Edgar Buchanan had 174 acting jobs much line Denver Pyle.?ÿ Many remember him as Uncle Joe on Petticoat Junction.
Pyle and Spock also appeared on Perry Mason, Pyle many times. Robert Redford and Angi Dickinson also appeared once. Dabbs Greer, Reverend Alden on Little House appeared often as did John Anderson.
Glen Campbell once said that during the sixties, there was a handful of musicians who did all of the back-up work for recordings. Binge watching old shows reveals the same pattern in tv supporting actors.
Dabbs Greer was right up there with the other two, with 320 jobs.?ÿ It was funny to watch him as the town drunk in several shows after thinking of him as Reverend Alden.?ÿ He was in 42 episodes of Gunsmoke playing various characters.?ÿ He even appeared in an episode of Saturday Night Live but was not credited for his appearance.
Deforest Kelly was also a big western star before outer space, saw him in at least one Bonanza and maybe a Gunsmoke or two. William Shatner also did at least one Gunsmoke. Lots of old time stars made several?ÿ appearances on Maverick, Edgar Buchanan and John Dehner were on quite often, but I don't think they ever played the same character, unlike Ephraim Zimbalist Jr, Roger Moore and several others whose names escape me at the moment.
Others who could be found in show after show include:?ÿ John Dehner, John Anderson, Lyle Bettger, Paul Fix and Dan Duryea.
James Best had hundreds of roles as well, from westerns to the Andy Griffith show.
Can't believe I forgot to mention him.?ÿ Rosco P. Coltrane on The Dukes of Hazzard.?ÿ His birth name was Jewel Guy.
Any show that needed an old guy used Burt Mustin, born in 1884.?ÿ Worked up until 1976 and died in 1977.
One of my favorite shows! And of course one of my favorite "religious actors". He played Reverend Alden, well! ???ÿ
Ken Curtis played several different rolls on Gunsmoke, but Festus was the longest. He played a Kiowa indian scout, a Texas trail hand, a playboy gambler [Kye Kelly] trying to spark a married woman, and probably a few I missed. He sang with the Tommy Dorsey Band and the Sons of the Pioneers and was one of the Regimental Singers in John Wayne's movie Rio Grande. A pretty dang good entertainer if you ask me.
Two very different personas with Ken Curtis (born Curtis Gates).?ÿ To think he replaced Frank Sinatra in the Tommy Dorsey Band does not seem possible, but, true.
Gunsmoke on MeTV right now.?ÿ Dabbs Greer is a storekeeper and Edgar Buchanan is an outlaw.?ÿ Buchanan met up with Matt Dillon prior to the Civil War in Redwood, Texas and saved Matt's life.?ÿ Trying to use Matt's thankfulness to let him get away with something.?ÿ Burt Reynolds is helping Dillon search for Buchanan.
Earlier today, Buchanan was on Wagon Train as the king over a town named for him.?ÿ He was an evil, controlling devil towards the townspeople.
