That stuff doesn't immediately clear your system. Try a few days with none and see if your sleep pattern doesn't change.

I quit drinking coffee once.

It was the most irritable 45 minutes of my life.

As I sit her imbibing my 1st cup of morning brew, cafe' you will, I would have to agree with your conclusion. There is definitely something wrong with anyone who does not drink coffee.?ÿ

Quitting coffee is not in the cards and should a doctor ever tell me to quit I will find another doctor who is not a heretic or psychopath.

I guess everyone is too nice to point out that hour that you wasted before getting out of bed. ?????ÿ

I get it about once a month.

Exercise helps for me, especially when work is not strenuous, barring that sometimes I turn on the light and read for an hour and crash back out.

Think I may try some of the tricks in this thread, barring the no coffee thing of course.?ÿ

I had to quit drinking coffee almost a year ago. I couldn't drink just one cup. A pot of coffee each day was too much acid.

Many years ago I worked in an office setting with a fellow who absolutely NEVER left his desk without his coffee mug.  He even took it along when he took a short stroll to the restroom about 50 feet from his office door.

My mother's great-grandfather was a Dunkard preacher who, in turn, appears to have been descended from Mennonite and Amish ancestors.  My grandfather was raised in a very somber, sober, dull sort of home.  My mother's childhood home was not so serious but they did avoid certain things, such as smoking, chewing, alcohol and stimulants of any kind.  She would very proudly inform people that she had never consumed a cup of coffee in her entire lifetime.  She made and served coffee to others but never took a sip.

I really have enjoyed coffee for over 50yrs. I have had to quit caffeine after getting shingles. For me, parts still linger after two years. If I have anything from tea to coffee, the shingles will become like a burning in my side. The smell of brewing coffee is still very pleasant. I make it for a few friends that come by and that is as close as I get. Then again, they are all in AA and do not consume alcohol and I will have my bourbon with water back to their envy.

Had no clue coffee would exasperate shingles.

And it is a criminal offense to put anything in a good bourbon.  Of course that assumes you drink good bourbon.

It is the caffeine that makes it irritate my skin. Have not been able to bear the thought of drinking noncaffeinated coffee. The aroma is what contains all the good from coffee.

A splash of Maker's 46 and follow that with a cup of water.

My mom was a big coffee drinker. She's cut back some due to acid reflux issues.

One day, while I was in college, I was desperate for a pick-me-up so I bought a cup of coffee. I took it to a table and.....finally threw it away. I couldn't bring myself to take a sip. I don't even like the smell of coffee, nor the taste of any food item that has coffee (natural or not) flavoring.

My partner's a big coffee drinker too. I can't tell you how many coffee/espresso making machines there are in the house. Pretty sure more than 5. I was so disappointed when I was pregnant and the smell of coffee didn't make me nauseated--so I could ban it!

My Mother and Father drank coffee and my Father made martinis every evening when he got home.  He let us have a sip, eww yuck how can you drink that?  No alcoholics among us.  Some of us maybe drink too much coffee.  Bourbon too, he let us try the bourbon, straight right out of the bottle.  Mother said her Father (died before I was born) had a theory, if you like it drink it as it comes out of the bottle, don't mix it with anything, that tends to limit over consumption.  Sugary drinks are the worst, worst drunk, worst hangover.

I have found the key to coffee is in how you make it.

Make it in the standard auto drip maker (no matter the fancy brand name) you get acidic undrinkable swill (once you get used to good coffee).

One day a few years ago I craved another cup of coffee at the office.?ÿ So I made some in the autodrip maker in the break room, two sips and down the drain it went, awful stuff.

I use a siphon, makes very strong, flavorful, but non-acidic coffee.?ÿ Don't need any creamers or sugar. I put some in a thermos and bring with me on office day and some I leave at home in a thermos for wife.

I even converted my wife to black, no sugar, coffee.

You know, if coffee is off the menu for whatever reason, there was somewhere I read that a crisp apple has the same 'wake-up' ability as a regular cup of coffee.

I need the coffee too bad to want to experiment with the idea.
