Carol Kaye and Steve Cropper.
Steve Cropper was the large ominous band guitarist in the Blues Brothers movie.?ÿ The songs he has written or co-written are all monumental hits.
?ÿCarol's never been in a movie but I guaran-dam-tee you've heard her work.?ÿ One that comes to mind is the bass lead-in for the Beach Boys Good Vibrations.?ÿ?ÿ
I think I'm in love again...
Tuba Skinny:
She's singin' 'bout me just so you know 😀
From the year I started surveying...... still one of my favorites
?ÿ
And near the end of my career, one of my long time favorites Jackson Brown is still out doing it, this version with his long time compadre David Lindlley,?ÿ enjoy

This one is just for me as it brings back so many memories
@loyal Jerry Jeff Walker and The Lost Gonzo Dog Band. Another great Texas writer.

Crosby Stills Nash and Young. Kent State was 50 years ago this month.

Speaking of Jerry Jeff, here's a clip of Ray Wylie Hubbard telling Jerry Jeff the origin of "Up Against The Wall Red Neck Mother."

And Jerry Jeff's cover of it:

Years ago I worked with a geologist who was an undergrad student at Kent State at that time. We discussed that incident numerous times.
Loyal
That is in Abita Springs Louisiana, been there, nice place. Hot and humid as all get out in the summer.
I find hard to believe that a Californian such as yourself you be able to understand southern speech and slang much less Louisiana accents. There might be some hope for you afterall.
Here's one that probably should be dead.
@a-harris my college girlfriend's dad grew up in alvin and played bass, opened for the moving sidewalks many a time before deciding to be a "college boy." he used to give me a copies of old rolling stones from his collection every year for my birthday- one of the last ones he gave me before he died was a review of a show where his band (matchsticks, if i recall correctly) opened for moving sidewalks. i have all those stored in a sealed bag in a bin somewhere...
David Allen Coe has made some bad choices in life but he is a great song writer.
How about Charlie Daniels (age 83)
interesting part about DAC is he wrote Paycheck’s biggest hit and Steve Goodman wrote DAC’s biggest hit.
first concert I remember (and just barely) was Charlie Daniels Band playing on a flatbed trailer at a tractor pull somewhere in Georgia (Valdosta probably) in the mid-late 70s. That was my dad??s idea of a family vacation back then- tractor pull tour of the SE U.S.
not a big fan of how political he??s gotten over the years, though. (not his personal politics, I just don??t care for heavy duty moralizing in my music, regardless of which direction it comes from).
My mother LOVED him in "A Star Is Born". To this day I can't watch that movie or listen to any of the soundtrack in that movie without losing it. 😥
As a bald man, I post this with not only a deep connection to music (i'm enjoying this thread), but with an inner conflict tearing me between crushing hair envy and follically induced absurdity.
Seems appropriate?ÿ
And, Ms. Wilson ain't close to dead. This brings together 3 long-time favorites: Zeppelin, Mule and Ann. <if you like to rock, stick with the audio. it pays off>
