Many of you know (or know of) Teresa Smithson. She is from Colorado and has been working over seas now for many years. She has written some very nice articles for Professional Surveyor Magazine and taught some very interesting classes.
The sad news comes this morning that her daughter in law (age 29) has a very aggressive form of cancer. As you can imagine, being the mother of 4 young children and diagnosed with cancer is going to be very difficult for the entire family both emotionally and financially.
I can tell you that when my sister in law passed away from breast cancer leaving two young girls behind it left scars that are still healing.
I write this to say that Teresa has set up a website for those wanting to help in any way possible.
Mother of 4 Fighting Cancer at 29 Years Old
I will be making a donation and encourage anyone else who feels inclined to do the same.
Thank you.
Larry P
Larry, I just made my donation and I challenge everyone here to match it. B-)
The hardship for those kids if the treatments do not work or the sadness for the husband is unimaginable. Come on people!! Dig deep and give until it hurts.
Larry,
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. This is a worthy cause.
There ought to be a law against people that young getting cancer.

I just gave. Challenge on!
God be with them all.
My Mom was diagnosed at 31, passed at 39. I was 8, little sis was 4.
I'm 60+ now & I miss her every single day.

:good: :u:
I was 19 when I lost my mom (47)...Done!
OMG, you guys ROCK. I woke up this morning and saw what you have done. Words cannot express the gratitude my family feels right now. There are so many people with their own stories that show we are all a part of humanity just trying to make life the best we can.
Thank you so much for your response and caring. We are still waiting for a date for surgery and I'm getting into angry mode because every day is critical. My daughter-in-law is getting frustrated and is in pain, but is still running the family; no slacking for the kids...lol. It's feels good to be part of the surveying family, your caring has helped.
THANK YOU
Teresa - In appreciation and respect for all you have done for our profession and our organization, the Western Colorado Land Surveyors, at a regular business meeting last night, pledged $500 to your fundraiser. We all wish you and your family the best.
Thanks to LarryP for the timely notice.
Teresa, y'all keep on fighting the good fight and we will be here for you, praying and donating as needed.
Please keep us posted on anything else the family needs as this goes on. This crew won't back down until this cancer is beaten.
I lost my Mom to cancer and this is a good way to tell those nasty germs "NO MORE!!".
I lost my mom to cancer 17 years ago. It devastated my son, Brian. When his wife told him that food doesn't taste right anymore, he vividly remembered my mom saying the same thing. He's not saying much but I knnow he is really scared.
Thank you again.
and thank you so much WCLS. I've been gone so long, it's hard to feel relevant. You guys are just .... I can't find the words, only thank you.
Just tell Brian that there are literally hundreds of people that he does not know from Adam's house cat that are praying for his dear wife. We will stand with and by him through whatever is to come. He's, by no means, alone in dealing with this.
Donated.

PS: I HATE CANCER! :-@
Family Update
We just got the surgery date. The doc looked at her records and decided he wants her in ASAP. Surgery is next Wed, the 17th. Given how fast this thing is growing, we are all much happier about the doc moving the surgery sooner. Her doctor has over 10 years of cancer research and this is one of his specialties, we feel a whole lot better about that too. All the cards are being dealt in her favor, hope the trend continues.
Thank you to my surveying family. My daughter-in-law, Carolyn says that she sends hugs to all of you. She had no idea what a big family she had, and it feels good.

Thanks for the update. Please keep 'em coming.
