Cheers Angel

You certainly have your hands full, dealing with an assortment of surveyor know it all types from around just about everywhere. USA is tough enough with all the variable state laws, but toss in some foreign countries asking questions. Gets crazy.

Great job you guys do!!

Thanks

Fair and unfair don't enter into it. He entered a contract. He violated the terms. Done. Fairness in and of itself is simply the perversion of justice by emotion... My .02

Oh.... I though the post was about racism in the workplace issues. But from some of the posters posting here, apparently it doesn't exist in the survey profession.
Who'd of thunk it.

Exactly.

The owner of the sandbox gets to set the rules.

Don't complain especially when it's FREE!

If you don't like it, go and set your own forum up.

A sports forum that I'm a member of has a dedicated area just for political stuff and it degenerates into personal vindictive mud slinging at frequent intervals. I can well understand why Wendell and Angel do not want (or need) that sort of carry on here.

Sorry. I didn't make it clear enough that I was agreeing with Wendell's subtle suggestion to go away and start your own forum if you don't like the rules here.

I was basically saying that as it is Wendell's forum, we have to play by his rules.

I agree that owning a major sports franchise shouldn't tag one as a celebrity but it does.
Owners become civic or community leaders by undertaking and support of charitable causes of various interests. Plus the team becomes a major part of the community and usually followed by a majority.
The list is endless that their trusts and foundations spend their monies and have influence on people's life's. Charities and 501Cs from A to Z.
The issue here is racism in the workplace i.e NBA or wherever.
You are either against it or support it. There is no sidestep around it by typing thoughts about societal tags placed on prominent people or others.
Apathy against racism is a support of racism.
I' just sayin'

I know. It just struck me as ironic because isnt that sort of what this whole thread is about? An owner of something making rules and some people agreeing with them and others not? Right or wrong it is Wendells right to set the policy however he sees fit. Right or wrong it is our responsibility as his patrons to agree to avbide by the rules or move along. There is a glaring double standard in this country when it comes to social issues, and I am not just talking about this particular one. We can not have the right to disagree with others and also have the right to not get our feelings hurt when others dont agree with us.

Sorry, guys they knew about Mr.Sterling views on race many years ago. This one incident does not "diminish the brand or void his contract on moral clauses. Remember Mr. Sterling has been in and out of the court system for not renting to other races. His was sued by Elgin Baylor. The NBA had previous knowledge of racist views, it is to late to cry 20 years later and try to force him to sell.

It's one thing when the users on here agree to disagree. It is another thing when it gets out of hand and then starts to turn into threats of violence. For some reason, the political stuff ALWAYS leads into that, and then we get the repercussions from it. "You guys BETTER take care of that *bleeping* post or I'll shove a fist up your face when I see you!! Just because you're a woman, Angel, doesn't mean you wont get a fist too!!" :-O :'( :-@

Really...someone is going to come and shove a fist up my face in person because of a post that I deleted because that post broke the rules? Or because of a post that they did not like that we let stay?? And threatening other users because of such posts? That shows REAL professionalism and maturity, huh. 😐 :-S

You guys have NO idea what we have had to deal with behind the scenes due to disgruntled, angry users and posts. This is why we have the rules that we have; to try to keep some peace around here.

We're very white here. See the post regarding cottage cheese.
What you don't seem to understand is that racism doesn't count if racist remarks were recorded without the racist's knowledge.
See the subtle difference.
Plus, all the black guys make a lot of money.

What the hell's your problem?

Don

I've been waiting for all this ancillary dust to settle before replying.
Is this guy the sole owner of the team?
Is a professional sports team of any sort about the same of a business? They do call them franchises after all don't they?
If he is the sole owner and he doesn't want to sell, can he not just shut down the business and "lay everyone off"? I'm sure there is plenty of us who have been laid off because the company owner shut the doors. Been there.

And as Volman1962 pointed out this feller's points of view have been known for a looonnngg. Seems it only became a big deal when this unknown team (well, unknown to me) actually made it to the playoffs. The way I hear it, most of the teams get into the playoffs anyhow.

Playoffs? I thought it had just become a year 'round thing in professional basketball. I'm surprised that the basketball season hasn't overlapped itself yet - is there no "off season"?

Top two finalists for internet champion of the day. Now if we could only get one of our astute colleagues to call him a honky we will be in business and can crown a champ 😀
