While he wasn't a surveyor he will certainly be missed by a large portion of our society. Even those who don't care for Country music can appreciate his wit and musical abilities. RIP Guy.

Dang, I hadn't heard. One of my favorite, a true artist.
RIP
I have truly enjoyed his works.
Bummer...one of the greats 🙁

Saw him with Emmylou once here. He was a guest on one of her tours in the late 80s
This is another of my favorites that doesn't get a lot play:

This saddens me. Guy Clark contributed a lot to the soundtrack of my life.
He'd been on the downhill slide for a long time. He once wrote "There ain't no money in poetry...".
The poet has finally been set free.

You can tell an artist from a poser by their reverence for their tools

Check out the wine glass recovery at 4:10 - I do believe it wasn't his first of the evening 😀

I knew it was coming I just wished I'd met him first. I think him and Townes have a concert tonight. Susanna will be singing and laughing in the background.
When I die don't bury me
In a box in a cemetary
Out in the garden would be much better
I could be pushin' up homegrown tomatoes

Ah, that just made a bad day horrible. He was a true American treasure. He's what people mean when they talk about "salt of the earth". Saw him most recently with Lyle Lovett, John Hiatt, and Joe Ely. All great song writers, but Guy was a cut above in my book. RIP Guy, we' sure will miss ya!
I went to a show on that tour. Guy was too I'll too play. It was still a fantastic show with the other three but his being there would have made a big difference. I finally saw him last year. Glad I did.

Must be a surveyor thing. About 10 years ago I saw Clark, Lovett, Hiatt and Ely in Jacksonville Oregon. You'd be hard pressed to find a group that that could spin yarns and turn phrases the way those 4 did. Memorable night.
