I just came across a character in a book I'm reading called Nearly Normal Norman. Guess who it made me think of. As I recall, our Nearly Normal even had a real name, but I've forgotten it. I checked, there's no longer a member by the name Nearly Normal (although there is one called Kent McMillan).
Hadn??t NN, quite improbably, been struck by a meteorite? And am I remembering correctly that he could be rather aggressive and abusive as well as eccentric? It's been years, I think.
Don
Nearly Normal was a unique individual for sure.
I would catch him on line here in the very early AM..3:30 to 4. I believe he was on the left coast and that would put his local time at the "wee hours" of the day. I just thought he was a nut but would always be surprised when he would come up with some gem of wisdom. I later gleaned from other posters that knew him better than I that he was terminally ill (if my memory serves me correctly) and was probably heavily medicated. That would surely explain a lot of his references to substances and higher beings. It seems as though Deral from Lawton kept up with him and maybe had related that NN was no longer with us.
And yes he claimed to have been struck by a meteorite. I wish I could remember the entire story. Nobody has ever filled his boots and I doubt they ever will.
Correct on all counts.
Wasn't he cutting grass when he was struck? He was convinced...
Wasn't his last name Watson or similar?

I do remember mowing the lawn was involved. I draw a complete zero on a name.

Thank you for that! All those names from that era; Christie Otching for crying out loud!
NN's unwavering conviction and undisguised distain.
The first response by Kent was classic McMillan.
Don
He worked with Jim Frame at some point.
Dan Wallace. Still with us, according to the Board listing.

And....he has become very successful at it! It took many years of trying, trying and more trying, but...he DID It! I am so proud of him! :grinning:
NN did debate and argue with himself better than I've seen done by anyone else.
I remember all too well the meteor story. I also remember when Deral Paulk aka Trimble Man called him "Dan". NN went off the charts with his reply. It was hysterical. I think that's when NN started the Zoltron jibbiresh vernacular in some of his responses.
Wow!!!!!! The names of the posters was a great trip back in time all by itself.
