No LSU classes today, tomorrow, nor the morning of Ash Wednesday. Students need some recovery time ...
No, I am not going.
> No, I am not going.
I did not think MARDI GRAS was a place, but more of a state of mind.....
Although I am less than an hour away, the last one I went to was 1972 or so. I totally don't get it. Driving in traffic; searching for parking; walking long distances and standing like sardines packed in a can next to loud drunk %$#$## to catch plastic beads just does not appeal to me. It is still deer season here and I have a couple more days to salvage my season. In the AM, I will be in a nice peacefuly quiet stand.
Put some Venison in the Freezer.B-)
OK, scratch the hunting. A real live client- pipeline no less- wants me in Jackson to discuss some work. H%$$ yeah I can make it! What time you want me there? 5 AM too early?
I spent the entire week before Mardi Gras in NOLA several years back.
It was interesting to watch as what was apparently a local festival on Wed, Thurs and Fri AM became a giant collegiate beer-fest on Fri PM, Sat, Sun, Mon and Tue.
We left on Saturday AM......our friends stayed until Monday and didn't enjoy it as much as the first few days.
You all should consider going to Mobile, AL for Mardi Gras. It is a lot more fun and a lot more sane than NOLA's. It actually is THE real Mardi Gras, as it was the first revival of Mardi Gras after the Civil War. Google Joe Cain and Chief Slabacamorrow for an interesting read.
So like Linus and the Peanuts Gang discovering the true meaning of Christmas, I humbly offer you...
Mobile, Alabama.

no thanks 😉
While Mobile may make claim to the origins in the USA, New Orleans, Acadiana and other parts of Louisiana have beaucoup more custom and traditions and culture of Fat Tuesday.
It is a way of life on every strata herefrom Rex to Zulu, high school bands to the mardi gras indians to the chasing of the rooster in Acadiana of the horseback maskers with their medeival costuns., and to the parades in every big and small city and town in Louisiana.
Gumbo King Cake and the Boeff Gras.
Happy mardi Gras.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Robert Hill for the most utterly objective statements ever made on Planet Earth, starkly innocent of even a scintilla of personal bias. 😉
