Perry, that's because you're up there in 'cow' Hampshire!! Shoot, you're probably still running prints that way! LOL (JK)

I'm so old I remember only three TV channels, in black and white.. ABC, NBC, CBS

Hey, I am so old that we did not have a telephone, did not have a refrigerator, did not have indoor plumbing, did not have air conditioning.....in fact we did not have electricity!

Water for washing dishes came from the well by a pump hand-operated by yours truly, then dumped from the bucket very carefully into a large wash pan sitting on the kitchen stove top so that the pan could be moved, once the water was heated enough, to the counter top so big sister could handwash everything and rinse them in a second wash pan containing more water fresh from the well. (VERY IMPORTANT---never remove the top from the well to see what else besides water is in the well.)

I do beleive

The best drink of water I ever had in my life came out of an open well with a bucket and windlass. It was one of those hot August days and we had been hours without water. There was an old store beside the road that had a few essentials and a gas pump. We stopped for a cold Coke and I asked for water. The OLD gentleman there pointed to the well. WOW, I think I drank about a bucket full. The old store building is still there (although moved about 100 feet) and the well has been filled and sits in the intersection of two State Highways. I have an print of the old "Lost Mountain Store" to remind me.

Fond memories, but I do believe that many times a well could get contaminated and diseases could spread throughout a whole town by everyone dipping from the same well and drinking from the same cup.

Our first tv was black and white.

All of my parent's cars had hand cranks for the windows.

S&H Green Stamp stores.

Stuckey's along the interstates.

Chest type slide out and lift up pop bottle vending machines.

Penny candy.

$0.35 a gallon gasoline.

How cool Schwinn "Stingray" bicycles were.

Doing the "Hokey Pokey" at the Roller Skating Rink.

Square Dancing for PE in 4th grade.

Seeing the "Board of Correction" which could get applied to your "seat of knowledge"
if you were summoned to the Principal's office.

"(VERY IMPORTANT---never remove the top from the well to see what else besides water is in the well".)

Inquisitive persons,(never exposed to such primitive atrocities) need to know what that might be?! 😉

Have a great week/weekend!

After reading all of those short phrases, I was expecting the last to say

"Burma Shave" 😉

Animals, both living and deceased. Snakes of various sizes, types and numbers. Green slimy looking gunk more commonly associated with Halloween decorations. Rotting sticks or tree roots. And a smell that would peel the paint off your old Chevy.
