I know a lot of you guys deal with this on a regular basis, but very very rare around here.
22 degrees with a wind chill of 10 degrees.
0.8 inch of ice and a layer of snow on top of the roads.
That's a recipe for disaster around here,
Forgot to drip my water pipes and paying for it now.
We were 80 degrees on Tuesday and will be in the 70's on Sunday.
We are just not prepared for this like you cold weather guys, so its better to just stay home away from the crazy drivers that think they can handle it.
I have a hard time believing in Global Warming right now.
Randy
instead of global warming how do you feel about climate change in general? 😉
NIce day!! 74 degrees
climate change has made the weather unpredictable, so of course Directv has issues with paying the weather channel and replaces it with a 3 hour loop.
then they raise the monthly fees. nicely done.
fwiw - I still like Directv and our Genie 🙂
I believe the climates change - always have and always will
Yesterday was 10° here and the sun was shining. A little breezy, but not too bad.
I was able to get out and do some field work and thought to myself "It's kind of nice out today".
It's all a matter of perspective.
Granted, it takes me 15 minutes to get dressed, equipment likes to act up, and chipping out monuments under snow and frozen ground slows down production, but like I tell clients who ask if I work in the winter, my standard response is "The bills don't quit coming, so I keep working".
The HIGHS of early next week are forecasted to be minus 7°, lows of minus 20°, and that doesn' factor in wind chill. Unfortunately, the one winter activity I enjoy, snowmobiling, is on hold because we don't have enough snow on the ground for the trails to be open.
Believe it or not, I still like Wisconsin.
NIce day!! 74 degrees
I put the Weather Channel app on my phone and I haven't turned the TV to that channel since.
17°F early morn, 29° at 10:30am, bright sunny day, dry conditions, wind 1mph ENE, 24% humidity, 10 mi visibility
😉
We had it here in South LA too, but not at much. Freezing rain, sleet and Snow. Here are a couple of pics I shot this morning.
Frozen mud on the truck:
One of the bridges that I didn't really have to drive over but did anyway:
And the railroad crossing:
So all the Interstates and bridges were closed this morning, which gave me an excuse to be late.
We didn't get any precip at all [unfortunately].
It's been dam cold and windy here, just NW of metro-Atlanta, for several days.
We got down to around 11 early this morning and wind chill put that around -5.
I heard on the radio earlier that we were colder than Anchorage and Socchi, RU. I also heard good luck trying to find an ice scraper at any gas station in TX about now. :'(
The cat stayed in all night for the first time in a long time. He went back out a little earlier but I expect him back at the door before too long.
My new policy is that if there is ice on the ground, I am not going out. For those of us from the south, a few days missed because of ice is better than a few months of having extra time to post on beer leg. January 8th, 2014 is a day that will live in infamany for me. Be careful if you do get out.

I don't work on January the 8th, cause that's Elvis's Birthday......

Target,
I'll call you on Sunday from the 6th tee. I'll be wearin' a short-sleeved polo shirt and shorts. Gonna be about 65 degrees, sunny, with light and variable breezes. Of course, please feel free to call me in July when it's 102 here and 70 there. 😉
I will have to remember that for future reference. There will probably be 3 days that I avoid the office from now on, September 11th, the anniversary of the OK. City bombing, and January 8th.
A couple more pics.
My truck at the office before I left for the day (yes she got some frozen snot on her nose):
My son sneak sneaux ball attack:
I was fun/exciting to get this weather, although we got down to 23F this morning. I had to work today (b/c O&G work never ends) and parking lot was almost completely covered in snow and ice. It was fun parking and walking to the door.
But on the negative side there were approx 200 accidents on the highways in SW LA that left two people dead. Most of I-10 was still shut down at mid morning today.
I hope you didn't get hurt:'(
I fell into the Green River on my birthday, up to my waist, first thing in the morning, about 15 years ago on my birthday.
Haven't worked on my birthday since; or the day after eitherB-)
