Well..
Before I worked at big giant computer company?ÿ I found time in the travel reservation industry to learn about big iron.
We had a 4 week supply of diesel for our data centers.
Upon learning this I mentioned that this was impressive, but if we lost power for that long the world didn't exist anymore, and the data center was unnecessary.
Contingencies are the planning no one seems to want to do because saving money instead of what if planning is the de rigeur.
A balance is the best approach and always based upon how much can you spend versus worst case end scenarios.

See if the USDA's Water & Environmental Programs/ Rural Utility Development has any grant money available for upgrades.?ÿ In 'nader land a rural WTP needs a healthy alternative power source.

It's embarrassing that some halfway illiterate, cheeto-fingered basement dwellers can hack a major piece of infrastructure and cause this much disruption.?ÿ Law enforcement should make these people public enemy #1 because there's no way some local wife-beater or drug dealer or even a serial killer has the potential to cause this much damage so quickly, imo.
I noticed that the perps issued an apology this morning and vowed to be more selective in the future. I wonder, what prompted that?
My guess is that they got a call from Mr. Putin telling them to cool it.
Speaking of Mr P, there appears to be some good technique shown in this photo. A top-notch optical I-man will know what that is.
It's all my fault.?ÿ I used about 60 gallons of gas on Sunday coming home from Florida.?ÿ Gas is SCARCE here even though there are about 20 million gallon tanks near me.?ÿ Colonial Pipeline comes right through Cobb County headed for the Northeast and elsewhere.?ÿ The price has gone up a minimum of 20 cents per gallon since Sunday with some places as much as 50 cents.?ÿ It sure is nice being retired and not having to drive every day.

Both eyes open.
I'd recommend he doesn't touch the mag though.
That's making his setup more unstable.
Correct amundo. Yours truly can (accurately) shoot a rifle with open sights, with both eyes open. With a total station it sure takes the strain off the eyes.
You know you're really good when you can change the direction of your clover leaf. ?????ÿ
At least we don't have to listen to Russia, Russia, Russia, anymore, even if this time it actually IS Russia.
Meanwhile, we British, get to waft around in silent luxury, with 400Hp on tap, at 100 miles per gallon.
Therein may be the problem.?ÿ These folks probably aren't "halfway illiterate, cheeto-fingered basement dwellers",?ÿthey're most likely cream of the crop minds with lots of financial backing from nefarious governments.
Thinking that corporate and international cyber-war is just a bunch of pot-heads with a keyboard and time on their hands is seriously underestimating the enemy.?ÿ
Don't ever underestimate your opponent...?ÿ 😉
There seems to be a difference between these oil pipe scammers and the people who supposedly did the election stuff, for example.?ÿ These current guys are semi-apologizing and saying the only wanted cash now that they have the attention of the federales.
But that's exactly why I'd like to see law enforcement stomp these bugs; even unsophisticated people can be dangerous.
read a scifi book where all the hackers and spammers were killed because the AI in the internet didnt want competition. Might be worth it...

The power grid is as (more?) susceptible to this sort of attack than a pipeline, from what they tell us.
I wonder how many attacks are simply paid off and never talked about and how many are minor? Essentially, this hack went "nuclear", and I am guessing most hackers really do not want the NSA looking into them, followed by some sort of violent action.
