I'm logging out for the week and wanted to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!?ÿ For those of you traveling, be safe and look out for the other guy, they probably aren't looking out for you.?ÿ For those of you hosting family and friends, make sure the TV in the garage gets the football games...
Happy Thanksgiving to one and all.?ÿ Enjoy all the goodies and then get some rest.?ÿ We have already started the preparations for delivery to my daughter's home for the feast.?ÿ Smoked turkey breast, good ole Southern cornbread dressing, squash casserole, sweet potato souffle,?ÿ baked Brussell Sprouts, pecan pie and sweet potato pie.?ÿ Then into a food coma.

Happy Thanksgiving to all those giving thanks.?ÿ Our wingydingy is around noon on Sunday.?ÿ No children allowed except the hostess' six-month old.?ÿ All attending are to be fully vaccinated.?ÿ If not, stay home.?ÿ Too much food will be offered and too much food will be consumed.?ÿ Then everyone goes home.?ÿ First family gathering since March 2020.
I intend to take along a dozen or so fresh persimmons.?ÿ Probably will return with the same number, unless someone agrees to take a dare for a payoff.?ÿ They will be ripe, plump and tasty.
We had a very difficult year, but it could have been so much worse. Our son-in-law was hospitalized in early August after suffering a psychotic break out of nowhere. He was totally isolated from family, strapped in a bed, and so heavily drugged he couldn't speak. Eight days in, the Caldor fire broke out and we had to evacuate our daughter while her husband was trapped in the hospital. His parents had to evacuate too, and all came to our house with their trailers. Son-in-law got released five days later, but was still very confused and didn't know about the fire, so his folks and my daughter took him to another location for another nine days to begin his recovery. They finally got the notice that the mandatory evacuations were lifted and returned to undamaged homes. The fire got less than a mile away from each of them.
I am so thankful that we now have our son-in-law back and he is doing fantastic. I have many other things to be thankful for, but none as significant as that, and to have it all happen together was about as stressful as it can get for a solid three weeks, plus his continued recovery.
Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Happy Thankgiving from west Ky. Since last Thanksgiving, 2 oldest daughters and families moved back here from Charlotte and Lexington. Oldest ?ÿbought a house and 30 acres about a mile from here, then we sold our house to the other and we are building a new one, a single story ??old folks home??, back in the woods next door. 3 grand babies so far with another due the first of the year. Since wife says shes going to work another 4 years, I decided it was time to ??retire? mid summer to start on the house. Labor Day I hung it up , so now I??m homeless and jobless. Between getting the house site ready, getting in this years crops, and sawing lumber for the house on the Woodmizer I bought, Ive lost 20 lbs so far, May have to unretire to get some rest. Thankful for all of it.?ÿ

Wow, man. I hope things are improving and you have a great Thanksgiving weekend. Sounds like you have plenty to be thankful for though. 🙂
I have a lot to be thankful for -- my awesome wife, an interesting clan of kitties, great friends, a roof over my head, more work than I can shake a stick at, and YOU. I really appreciate this community of surveyors. My favorite posts to read are those where people are supporting other people and helping them through something.
THANK YOU for participating and for helping others. Regardless of whether it's a small problem or a big problem, every day I see people here making life better for other people. Even if it's just something as simple as participating in a thread -- somebody somewhere appreciates it, even if subconsciously, and it all contributes to our betterment.
As for our tiny family, my wife, my mom and I are having a small dinner at home. I've spatchcocked a turkey and it is brining right now. Mom is making Czech rohl??ky dinner rolls (we pronounce them roll-heekies) and pie, and while the turkey is roasting I'll be preparing green bean casserole and mashed taters 'n' gravy. That's it. Nothing fancy and we like it that way (less mess to clean up, too).
Happy Thanksgiving to you all. ???
P.S. If anyone wants to try to make their own rohl??ky, I found this great recipe: https://www.cooklikeczechs.com/rohliky-czech-bread-rolls/

Word
Our son??s dog comes over on work days, I never was a dog person but this dog just adores us especially Grandma who spoils him terribly. Sometimes he hunkers down and doesn??t want to leave when they come to pick him up.
It??s like having a pet without the responsibility and vet bills.
Experiencing another circuit around the Sun is a treat to be recognized and appreciated.?ÿ Many others did not complete that circuit for a wide variety of reasons.?ÿ Some jumped on in mid-circuit, such as my grandson in May.
I know I am far happier today than I was a year ago today.
