This is not how you want your vehicled returned at the end of the day. Actually it was hauled in on a tow truck and dropped off last night.
They swerved to miss hitting a dog and kissed the gaurdrail.
🙁
Ugh...but what can you say...I'd probably react the same way if I saw a dog in the road.

Did they miss the dog at least?
I used to have a gray F150 with the same aluminum cap - side doors, rack, etc. Difference was mine said "Griffin Surveying", and it didn't always swerve for certain species. Great truck, wish I still had it.
You can keep the dents though. Tough break... hopefully the dog was chasing a cat and the oncoming traffic got the ca.... oh never mind. Hopefully all is well
Would have driven that rig in on it's own wheels. As far as dodging a dog, hear that often enough to be doubtful.

No dogs were hurt in the making of this post.
Jud,
The rig just happened to die at the same time. Alternator or something. Can't open the hood to find out.
Joe
that will buff out
Two words..
Duct tape...(silver kind of course)
MONDO, BONDO
I know the feeling, my part time employee came in last week with my truck and said he ran into a rock the size of a VW bug while turning around. So much for having a straight bumper on an older rig. I think that he was trying to turn around by brail.
Around here, the culprit is always a deer. Imaginary or real. It doesn't really matter. The result is the same. Frequently reported to have happened about 10 minutes after closing time at all the bars.

 :dog:   Yay!!
Hope your insurance makes it right for you.
Around here if a cow causes an accident, the owner has to pay damages.
Should be the same for dogs.
I'd have crunched the car anyday to miss a dog, or cat. Just the way I am. The car means nothing to me compared to an animal.
I have had two friends maimed for life because someone swerved to miss a dog. One was a girl in high school who swerved to miss a dog and hit a tree (broken limbs and facial lacerations) and the other was a boy who was run over while riding his motorcycle by an old lady who swerved to miss a dog and nailed him (crippled and brain damaged). I will brake down hard to keep from hitting a dog if I know there is no traffic around, but will never swerve. An animal means nothing to me compared to a human life or well being.
You're right, Jeff. Many rollovers with ejections, head on collisions, etc have happened from people swerving to avoid animals. It's an instinctive reaction. However, it is more important to stay in your lane and brake.
What would have happened in Joe's case if the guard rail didn't exist?
Naturally instinct is to miss the animal, usually a lot less destruction to the vehicle to just hit the animal, horses, moose and bigger animals excepted. There has been a number of deaths of the driver around here over the years due to dodging some small animal only to roll the vehicle, total it and kill the driver, sorry, but no animal is worth risking a human life over, of course if I can safely miss an animal I will.
My kill count is two cats, one deer and numerous birds in probably close to a million miles over the last 35 years or so.

I hit a dog about 30 years ago. I was traveling about 65mph on a two lane highway. I saw two dogs on the side of the road, sitting on the shoulder. One stayed and one jumped in front of me at the last second, instant death. About all I could do was take my foot off of the accelerator.
I learned from that; animals on the side of the road may jump in front of your moving vehicle so slow down as much as possible.
Never hit a cat. I crunched a squirrel that ran under my tires. Recently another one ran right under the truck and managed to live through that.
