Can you do $40,000 on that bail?

I like the show and watch it often, but not for the chumlee idiot.

I am not surprised by the charges at all.

Wondering what that will do for the next season.

Chum's charges don't surprise me. Take any 25 year old "under achiever", make them a tv star...then sit back and watch what happens. Looks like he just had a little of this and a little of that...I mean he does live in Sin City after all. No big deal, he just needs to clean his act up and be responsible.

Maybe the History will drop Chumley into an espisode of "Scared Straight"....

I don't know if it's all that innocent.....the police were searching his house as part of a sexual assault investigation.......sounds like a bit more of a scumbag than he seemed on TV.

I had a shop teacher way back in the day that was also a deacon at his church and extremely active in the community. One of his students accused him of something inappropriate and his career was instantly ruined. After a few months of investigation the student finally admitted to "making it all up" to get back at him for something...but the damage was done. He retired and moved away.

Although today's press makes it very easy to jump to conclusions about a person's involvement in something, I try to keep an open mind. Chum could have been guilty of nothing more than slapping a young girl on the butt...but he could also be trafficking kiddy-porn, too....we don't know. I'll wait to label him a scum-bag 'til the evidence comes in.

ps - Last time I was on jury duty I was really surprised at the number of people convinced if someone was charged with something, the guilt or involvement of the defendant was almost a fact. Sadly, that is NOT how our justice system works.

The fact that he has kept his job this long damages the idea of this being a reality show. I would love to see an episode where Rick drop kicks Chum out of the shop.

Per that aspect - Unless you know the two people really well (which I don't), you have to give the benefit of doubt.

It is not entirely unheard of for a spiteful person to spread rumors or make false accusations regarding actions that would have occurred in total privacy, that are easier to fabricate evidence for than they are to defend against.

This is especially true if the accused has enough money to settle out of court.

These are serious accusations that the police have to follow up on.

Not defending the guy. I had always thought he looked/sounded like he was always high on the TV show.
He is probably going to get some time to reflect on his life.

Firing relatives from a family business is hard, and often never happens despite the downsides of keeping them on the payroll.

P.S. I had to look up "Chumlee" to figure out who this whole thread was about. I'm not much of a TV watcher.

I don't watch much either; I didn't think Chumlee was family. But that would make more sense....

I guess you're right....innocent until proven guilty. I shouldn't jump to conclusions.

He's not, actually, but his childhood friend is the son and grandson of the shop's founders.

When I first read the title I was thinking Chumley the Walrus, from Tennessee Tuxedo.

If you have ever been the subject of an nasty false rumor or serious false accusation, you will have a different perspective.

You got it. That is exactly the character that earned him his nickname.

Hope he can read the writing on the wall and get his sh*t together. I don't think his resume and reputation will get him too far outside of the family business and a felony conviction will haunt him for the rest of his natural life. Sad.

Are you kidding? This should secure him a guest shot on Kardashian. Chumlee is the modern version of Jr. Samples. Their talent is in having no talent. Seriously, I hope the charges against him prove to be false, as I have often wondered if his apparent laziness and bad attitude was just playing it up for the camera.
