I decided to stay home and enjoy a (more or less) day off.

Jammies and slippers, maybe an old movie or two.

Colossal King Crab Leg (over a pound each), with melted butter (Christmas Gift from Daughter & Family delivered yesterday from Alaska).?ÿ

Time to dig around the DVD collection for them movies.

🙂

Went partying last night with friends.?ÿ Today we stayed home and enjoyed a smoked ham from the local "pig stand".?ÿ Jammies are also my uniform of the day.

I've seen my three fav Christmas movies today:?ÿ Die Hard (Bruce Willis), A Christmas Story (by Jean Shepherd) and The Ref (Denis Leary).?ÿ All of them great American literature with a festive holiday spin.?ÿ

Smoked a turkey today, used the drippings to make gravy, threw together some mashed taters, and roasted some green beans. Mom made Czech dinner rolls, a pumpkin pie and a butterscotch pie. It was a good day. Literally.

Now watching kitty videos on TV with my new buddy... oops, looks like he's already gone into a food coma.

Just me, partner, and our 2 kids today. He warmed up a smoked turkey breast, mashed potatoes, corn, and peas. He also cooked some mushroom spaetzle, but only he ate some (bleargh). Apple pie and/or vanilla ice cream for dessert. Turkey and noodle soup for supper.

They got an xbox 360 plus assorted games for it and for the Switch they got last Christmas so it was a quiet day mostly.

Weather update: rained overnight, woke up to partly cloudy, but beautiful blue sky, more clouds rolled in as the afternoon progressed.

Meanwhile, I bought plane tickets for me and kids summer vacation (to grandma's) plus put deposits on a family camp and a mini camp (both half-weeks) at a camp in the Hocking Hills where I was a camper, CIT, and counselor. When you become a CIT (counselor-in-training) or a counselor, you're given a "song." Mine starts, "We have slept by the fading embers..."

We've never been able to find a source for it and it has some wonky lyrics that have likely been corrupted. There's a tradition of creating lyrics for existing tunes too, so hard to tell where it came from. The camp started in 1928.?ÿ

We had ham and turkey at Thanksgiving, for Christmas, I fried catfish and chicken nuggets with okra, sweet cornballs, fries and jalapeno hushpuppies for Sunday Football.

The chicken nuggets, okra, cornballs and fries sure sound good.  Catfish is not even close to being my favorite fish and I really don't know why.  One-tenth of one jalapeno hushpuppy would require soothing liquids to be consumed to allow me to sleep.

@holy-cow

You have never had any catfish from the Sulphur River, NE Texas and every species of catfish in there are better than any other catfish and many other fish species on the planet.

The more onion and jalapeno the better I sleep.

Fish requires more liquids thru the night than most foods.

@a-harris

I like catfish, but then again I like almost any fish (as long as it's cooked).  Fried okra and jalapeno hushpuppies sound good too.

We had a cured ham, fresh green beans with new potatoes, pineapple casserole and fresh yeast rolls.  Food coma for sure.

A good Cheeseburger (grilled) is the perfect meal (with or without fries). It has ALL of the basic food groups (except fish, and a little Worcestershire Sauce technically fixes that), even if the food pyramid shape is somewhat altered.?ÿ
