Gender is a social construct. Prior to humans organizing themselves into civilizations there was no concept of gender.
You had to do it didn't ya.....you just had to go their, you couldn't just let Nates comment stand.
Well he brought it up in a thread about the cost of vehicles LOL.
As one who has studied a great deal of genealogy and related history I tend to laugh at those who claim a single nationality as if every ancestor they ever had lived within the boundaries of what defines that nation today. Amongst the 101 reasons that is not generally true is the old adage: "Mama's baby, Daddy's......maybe". Rape by victorious battlegroups was a standard practice throughout most of the Old World for centuries. None of us want to imagine our great-great-great-great-great grandmother becoming pregnant in such a fashion, but, that is a historical fact. Many are descended from orphans who lacked any information as to their parentage. Finding that a certain ancestor arrived in the US on a ship that departed from a certain port in Europe does not mean that ancestor and, in turn, their ancestors were residents of that immediate area. The vast majority of the population was illiterate and, thus, had little means of transmitting true information to multiple generations beneath them. Add to that the fact that relatively few lived beyond 30 or so.
We are all mutts. Get used to it.
Most people with a British ancestry are about 30% Scandinavian due to the Viking raids and the Norman French.
as to gender, transgender people I know are not confused about their gender, they know what gender they are. The people that are confused are other people that can't accept that which is none of their business.
Biologically there are at least three possibilities, those with male plumbing, those with female plumbing, and those with both (yes they exist). Society has invented and imposed genders on those different types of people.
And to think my original post was about an expensive truck.
I have pulled under quite a few Sally ports at churches.
I justed picked up a Ram 2500 with very low miles for under 30k. It might be my last truck. My first house cost 58,500 and I refuse to go higher than that for anything with wheels..
The GMC Sierra in front of Costco today was tagged at $59,000.?ÿ When I was a kid a vehicle?ÿ 3-5 years old with 75,000 miles on it was pretty much done.?ÿ A new truck purchased today and regularly maintained can reasonably be expected to give daily service for 30 years or more.?ÿ I submit that the per mile & per year cost of a truck purchase today is lower than it was in my fathers time. My personal ride is a 16 year old Tacoma. I intend to keep it for at least another 16, by which time the kids will probably want to take the keys away from me.?ÿ ?ÿ ?ÿ?ÿ
As far as $100,000 dollar vehicles go, that's not how I roll. But it is really common.?ÿ ?ÿ?ÿ
'85 Chevy flatbed still does a heck of a job pulling a trailer.?ÿ The '97 GMC flatbed does a ton of work.?ÿ Low insurance, low taxes, reasonable maintenance costs, never worry about taking them somewhere nasty because of concern over scraping the paint or getting a dent.?ÿ Wouldn't take either to go on a date to the opera, but, I'm not going to the opera in the first place.
I'm with Mark.?ÿ You can kick or key my truck and I don't care.
Just don't steal it or take my vest, hardhat. or boots.
I recently hung my shingle and will be working out of a 2008 Daihatsu Terios which is known in our family as Tigger (as in Whinny the Pooh's friend) owing to its unrefined ride.
Can get everything I need in it, it's got modest 4wd abilities and being a Toyota in disguise hopefully will see me out a decade or until a decent small electric ute/truck/SUV comes out.
Set me back 8k and cheapish to run. We get Japan's hand me downs here in NZ which keeps the prices down so never spend more than 10k on a car.
I drive 110 miles each day commuting to the office in a 2002 Pontiac Sunfire.?ÿ The car has a blue book value of around $1300.?ÿ The other day we were short on company vehicles, and I had to take it on a road trip.?ÿ I turned in a mileage report $220 beyond what I paid in gas.
Well, the only reason to buy a $102k truck is as compensation for...well...let's just say these sorts of insanity are typically limited to a certain gender. Not always, but often enough to make the generalization.
So, it is kind of a discussion about gender.
Think of the boat you could buy for that!
Well, Cousin A, why haven't I been seeing you at our family reunions? We blue-eyed people are really a great group of folks.
Some have contended Niall of the Nine Hostages was the horniest fellow ever born. Others, probably with brown eyes, argue otherwise.
Think of the boat you could buy for that!
Or maybe pay off the wife's charge card...
