The Indian Turquoise in the 1957 Chevrolet truck paint colors looks close to what was called "Foam Green" in other corners of the General Motors line. It's sort of amazing how many different paint colors were available in 1957 compared to the few in which cars and trucks are sold today.

Kent,

I think the primary reason that fewer colors are available today is that whatever they use for paint nowadays has a very short shelf life. The more variety they would have, the more spoilage they'd have just sitting on the shelf.

Ah yes, this has to be my favorite color. I have a bass that's a similar color, but has a pearlescence shimmer to it, which is not my favorite. I've been mulling over getting one of my other Fender basses and have it repainted this color exactly. I do have a six string Fender Classic 50s guitar in the surf green color.

Kent, I applaud your color choice. There are only a few of us that like that color.

I think the modern color I dislike the most is the silver variant(s). It seems that every other car nowadays is either silver, maroon, horrible blue variant, white, or black.

I was waiting 'til this thread lost interest to mention that green motorcycles are considered in some circles to be bad-luck. I actually like Kent's choices. I bet he comes up with a righteous looking scooter.

I have owned a British racing green 500cc Triumph with no mishaps. My bad-luck color is actually metallic orange. Wrapped a '70 CB450 around a brick retaining wall. It hurt. I laid a BSA 441 Victor down on SH3 in the middle of the night. I didn't think I would even stop sliding on the asphalt. I left my hide on a 300' long streak of pavement...The tank was painted metallic burnt-orange.

I don't put much stock in superstitions. In the '70s the Kawasaki Racing Team put the "green" superstition to rest with their trophies. There are some that still will tell you that "green is mean"...

Yes, the average parking lot is a sea of similarly styled cars, trucks, and SUVs, all looking as if they emerged from the same paint booth.

My brother had a 70 or 71 CB350. I recall it was red. Burnt my leg on the exhaust.

Mygreen Headache

I made this color up for my 53 GMC. The mix is one gallon IH White and one quart JD Green. I call it Mygreen Headache

It looks a bit like one of the Volkswagen colors from the 50's or one that the Fiat 500's are sold with today.

Volkswagen Bahama Blue

Strangely enough your Migreen Headache IS eerily similar to the Volkswagen color "Bahama Blue". Never really thought of it as a blue though. My '65 Beetle was that color and everyone referred to it as light green. It wasn't really green, either...

Most of the Volkswagen paint colors from the late 50's and early 60's were basically grey with some color added. They were more restrained than the US carmakers for some unfathomable reason.

Wow, Paden. We are members of a granfalloon of drivers of a 65 VW bug bahama blue in color. I agree with you on the color. When I first started driving it, I thought it was green but in the end I thought it was blue. :-S
The registration paper called it ' Lt.Blue'

I loved that bug and everything that happened to me while I drove it.
Here is a pic of restored from the internet. I didn't have the fancy whitewalls only tires that I got a Montgomery Ward somewhere along the road. I did perambulate the continental USA in that car for about 9 months.

I put a lot of miles on a couple of those little cars. My fav was the '65 in that color. Lived in OKC and had kin from Weslaco, Tx. to Kermit, Tx. to Roswell and Dexter, N.M. to Denver and Ft. Collins, CO. Drove that thing all over.

They're not really highway cars, but they do real well considering their shortfalls (hp). Trying to make it over Wolf Creek Pass in Colorado, fully loaded on a hot summer day could be challenging..

All around I might be pressed to say the VW Bug was my favorite automobile.

A friend of mine has a Harley with just about the same color combination as the Chevy in the photo you attached. It's a good looking bike. Unique and better looking than many of the factory color schemes.

Except to the purist, an older BMW would look good in those colors as well. An airhead with a sidecar in that green combo would be a one of a kind.

Unique isn't always good, though. :> To my eyes, BMWs come in only three paint schemes: white, black, and silver, with pinstripes. I've never even been able to accomodate the more colorful finishes that the 1980's brought to BMW.

Was that paint color also known as "Meadow Green"?
