So I saw this in our local paper in Georgia.

Any clue what it means? Is he trying to quiet title? I have never seen this before.

Wow.?ÿ Just WOW.

I have never seen a course described as being "South 26.32 degrees 05 minutes West"

Someone who fell off the turnip truck is the scrivener of that bit of foolishness.

Looks to me like an attempt to quiet title.

I'd be curious if anyone knows whether it would meet the standard for giving public notice, since there's nothing but a name and a URL?

Dude refers to himself as a "sovereign American individual" which raises at least one red flag...

?ÿ

(Edit to add: went back to read more, holy crap the whole thing is a mess of red lights & air raid sirens)

This person is a quack.

I've seen examples of this in an attempt to avoid paying property taxes.

"Allodial" is the first flag, and language suggesting that no local/state/federal court has jurisdiction to hear any claim after the "publication period".

*Derp* I typed "alloidal" the first time... It has been corrected.

Yes, it appears to be some of that "the government doesn't have power over me" stuff. The more common wording is "bringing forward," accompanied by some legalese-sounding mumbo jumbo?ÿ as in this rant.

There are a bushel basket full of red flags.?ÿ I did learn a new term though.?ÿ I don't ever recall hearing the term allodial.

Allodial title?ÿconstitutes ownership of real property (land, buildings, and fixtures) that is independent of any superior landlord. Allodial title is related to the concept of land held "in allodium", or land ownership by occupancy and defense of the land.

Sounds almost like adverse possession.

The "act of the General Assembly" of 1843 authorizes any citizen after certain duties to take out in his own name a grant for any lot of land may be what this whole thing is predicated on.?ÿ I would love to be in a bar drinking at the next table over from this guy.?ÿ It would be great people-watching.

As we saw discussed a while back, a patent is a quitclaim deed. So if you deed it to yourself that's supposed to improve your claim??

Dunno, I've met my share of people like that and I try to stay as far away as I can get. They are invariably toxic, narcissistic a-holes.

I don't mind watching videos of them getting their just deserts though, when they try to put their BS over on law enforcement...

I don't ever recall hearing the term allodial.

On the old POB board (not the revamped board that quickly led to the functional demise of the forum) there was a frequent poster named Richard Schaut (RIP).?ÿ He was an incorrigible proponent of the notion that all land titles in the U.S. were allodial and therefore immune to regulation.?ÿ We got to see the term a lot when he was still alive.

I still have a hard time saying "allodial" rather than "alloidal," though -- I got it wrong the first time I saw it, and it lodged that way in my brain.

At least he now has PERFECT title. There are so many misconceptions here.

Once I was stupid enough to get into a discussion with one of the local boards as they kept adding to regulations dividing lands and I said they shouldn't try to cover all the different ownership in a tract of land, such as minerals.........DUH!!!

Now they are making plats have statements about minerals, laterals, codes and on and on, trying to cover it all.

Keep your mouth shut DUMMY!!!!!

It's interesting how many threads of ownership are attached to each parcel of mostly empty rural tracts.?ÿ

And like the previous thread mentioned a Patent is simply a Quit Claim Deed.?ÿ

We see 'allodial' pretty regularly out here (HI) in old patent and grant docs, but back then even though it's still defined the same, it was used by the govt (kingdom) to reassure the awardee an absolute title rather than, like what appears to be the case here, a grantee trying to prove his title against the govt (or maybe even other private citizens).

"notwithstanding assessment lien theory to the contrary"?ÿ Yep, another allodial quack.?ÿ

What it all actually comes from is martin v. hunter's lessee, which determined Federal court power over State courts in certain instances.?ÿ Treaty to end war with england recognized private english land ownership would remain.?ÿ States wanted to take those lands from the "loyalists" and give to others.?ÿ Supreme court of Georgia would not enforce Federal decision, so US supreme sent it back to a lower Georgia court to enforce.?ÿ Then States came up with the pre-emption statutes, at least in part as an end run around Feds enforcing patents.

Fascinating stuff, but none of it recognizes a "sovereign individual" with "allodial land ownership".?ÿ On the contrary, it's all about which government entity gets to control which part of the rights/responsibilities/benefits of individual citizens.?ÿ

The unfortunate Mr. Combs is in for a world of hurt I suspect.

@jim-frame Dang it. I've been saying "alloidal" in my head for years. Didn't realize I was wrong until I saw your post.
