You left one out: Mathematicians.
Without that you wouldn't have most in that list.
Doctors: I'm assuming you mean medical Drs. They should be on equal ground but aren't really comparable.
Preachers and the like shouldn't even be in a list with the likes of lawyers and real estate agents.
My sister is an MD and my brother a lawyer. Neither stands a chance with me when it comes mathematics or physics. Bro hasn't practiced any law in about 20 years and now is a computer scientist like me.

None of the above, none of them would exist if it wasn't for farmers, ranchers and fishermen. What is on the list shows a lot about who created it, the survival of mankind does not rest in the population centers. Those that feed, provide clothing and housing are the ones that count.

Societal Roles
I once read a wonderful book about the Lakota Sioux called Hanta Yo! It tells about the three main functions of male members of the group: warrior, scout and hunter. Most men were skilled at all three, of course, but they tended to specialize and become recognized in a particular area. No one endeavor was considered superior to the others; all were necessary for the group to thrive, or even to survive.
I believe the same is true for our society to a large extent. It may make you feel good to talk about how important it is to be a rancher or a farmer (really, it's the farmworkers who are important, regardless of where they were born), but the guys that built the road that gets the produce to the market, or the truck drivers that deliver it, or the guy that unloads the truck; all these people are as important as anyone who may have a romantic image of himself as the foundation of America.
I don't mean to sound harsh, but sometimes these little vanities get tedious.
