Just curious...

Where I hang my shingle was part of the "Louisiana Purchase". If Mr. Tyler, my U.S. History teacher, was correct Spain sold most of this area to France and France sold it to Thomas Jefferson, et al.

Where does King John claim any of this area?

Pope Alexander VI in his Papal Bull "Inter caetera" in 1493 granted the Spanish all discovered lands to the "west and south" of a pole-to-pole line 100 leagues west and south of any of the islands of the Azores or the Cape Verde Islands.

Just curious...

The USA bought that from France, but who owns the USA?
(more properly, who owned the USA's debt then? who owns it now?)

Flim Flam

Quoting the Flim Flam Man, "You can't cheat an honest man" comes to mind in this case.

Read the book twice long ago, really enjoyed the movie.

I don't see any way another country or the Pope now has any claim on the US land directly.

The national debt might lead to them owning more of the land piecemeal. If the US couldn't redeem its Treasury bonds on schedule, it would need to raise taxes (enormously) and a lot of people might have to sell their land. Some of the buyers would be foreigners wishing to redeem bonds, such as China and Saudi.

And then there is the original method of obtaining ownership: military conquest. Watch out for aggressive moves by Luxemburg or Marvin the Martian.

I'd keep my eye on the Duchy of Grand Fenwick as well.

The fine print acknowledges that it is just a novelty of no real significance.

There's probably a UN treaty against ownership of extraterrestrial property.

My potential client called back the other day to hire me to locate his POB for his land patent. I told him that I could do the work that he wanted done, but I suggested he consult with a real estate attorney before proceeding to make sure this will do what he wants it to do. I also e-mailed him the BLM response letter that Jerry Wahl posted.

We have a homestead patent dated 1939 signed by FDR, the president. 2 years ago we were removed at gunpoint by law enforcement. Local court overrode and awarded federal granted land to local water entity and a non-profit organization. First lawsuit by water entity filed in 56' was decided in 60's was decided original homestead patent was valid and awarded all rights, mineral and water forever. We have all documents and maps supporting and superseding all current claims. This non-profit organization has history of such court cases and have successfully fraudulently acquired land and stolen the land from other families and pioneers of this county. The non-profit organization is a surrogate to the water entity to initialize these cases due to the law they are unable to lawfully sue any individual.
Thus bringing the reason we are contacting you. In hopes you may be able to help us. I was born in 1961 into this lawsuit, 5yrs after the first lawsuit filed by water entity. So every step of my life has been trying to protect and hold onto my families land. Please guide us to anyone that will listen and read the fine line which was passed in congress on May 20 1862 to secure homestead to the pioneers. Does anyone know of a person that isn't scared or influenced by public entities and non-profit organizations. Look forward to hearing from you & appreciate your time and consideration. The lines have been askewed
A non profit org filed lawsuit to eject Defendants from homestead property. The state court granted summary judgment in favor of the non-profit It found that the non-profit proved its ownership of the Property, that Defendants were residing on the Property, and that Defendants failed to show the existence of a triable issue of material fact regarding any valid claim to the property. We have all documents and maps supporting and superseding all current claims. Help! They moved Rancho Lines and created APN numbers that have no lot or section number to show where it existence originated from. Even the BLM admitted to typo error but after 60 years of court cases, finally moved off land and can't access what land is left. Court claimed the Homestead Patent was a Soanish Land Grant and attorney didn't defend title. Now has office in high rise. Cant 60 years of being sued be considered as
FRIVOLOUS"?
