Finished a boundary survey a week or so ago for a couple where this is the fourth survey I've done for them over the past 20 years. I've known both the husband and the wife as far back as I can remember. They are both 78 now. The husband has had some serious health problems so they are cleaning up some details that people tend to put off until the last minute, if you catch my drift. Finished the plat yesterday. Instead of mailing it like I normally would do I decided I would drop it off at their house and have a friendly chat while there. I was about to give the wife a call to see if it would be OK to drop in on them but decided to stop at the convenience store first to fuel up and buy a newspaper. That newspaper puts the list of names on the front page of those who have obituaries inside. That's the first thing I always check as I want to make sure my name's not on the list. First name listed was the wife's 99 year-old mother. Promptly decided to not bother them until after the funeral. By the way, I remember the mother of the lady who just passed away. She died 20 years ago at 100 1/2 years-old.

I worked too close to home when i was in my early 20s working for mom and dad, living at home.

I would drink some beers at night before bed and over sleep. My phone would ring at 9:26.... I'd jump out of bed, throw my pants on, run down the steps, out the door, past the neighbors house, through the parking lot and into the office building and arrive at work at 9:27.
