A few quick searches didn??t yield any relevant results. I am wondering if there are any suggestions out there for estimating/bidding software that also supports tracking and planning. Thanks in advance.
I use to track my contacts and clients years ago through salefsorce. It also allowed many custom reports in many formats so used that data to estimate potential sales estimate cost for them and tracked each stage. We were selling subscriptions to land surveying construction and agricultural for rtk vrs corrections. We also sold used equipment and supplies to some as well. I hope some good opinions come from your post as being back on the Land Surveying side i am using excel to do a lot and its not bad once setup but the setup time has a cost. And having something that was already designed and customizable and flexible would be worth a bit for sure. Plus trying to remember all the tricks to compute in each cell is time consuming.
@olemanriver Yeah I am using Excel for everything right now. I would really like to get into something better before my partner and I quit our day jobs and go all in. Thanks for the suggestion!
@themonkeyman well do your homework as it has been years since i did much with salesforce like 2005-2008 ish. We started with microsoft outlook business for sales contacts i can’t remember exactly what add in it was. But a good software to help stay on task and do follow ups and meetings schedules are something i never wanted to drop the ball on. Then of course the numbers side. Time spent and all. I am using excel now for tracking projects but it is not the best tool for everything. It works but not as efficient. I am sure you will want to draw out the cycle. Its what i call it. Contacts and tracking those bids proposals wins and then projects themselves and deliverables. Back to and through contacts or maybe better stated relationships. I had a general i ended up having tremendous respect for. He knew something personal about us low end people and made a point to ask and be specific. Like how is kids nope it would be how is your daughter abigail after having tonsils removed last monday specific. While being deployed I worked closely with him and he spent a hour every night when everyone else was gone organizing and going over his notes about those in his command. I am sure you and your partner have contacts and will grow relationships and the money will come. Good luck.
We have project management software for surveyors called Cyanic Job Book and are looking to add estimating. I mean we already have an estimating part but I'm sure it needs improvement. What exactly do you mean by "also supports tracking and planning"? I'd be interested in talking with you, maybe it's something we can build out together?
Or did you find something that does all that?
