Has anyone figured out the cost to print a 24x36 sheet on plain paper?
Trying to cover some of the excessive town board requests of 12 sheets...

thanks

From my current rate sheet (DC area prices-YMMV)

Reprographic Services (Per Print Square Foot)

Xerox Large Document $1.20
Paper Cad Plots (Black & White) $2.75
Color Cad Plats $3.70
Mylar Cad Plots $6.00

I would estimate the actual cost, including labor, equipment, ink, etc would be $5.00 per sheet.

I'm wondering why these planning boards won't just accept a single copy and a PDF file? Tell them it's the green thing to do.

18"X24" = $3.00
24"X36" = $5.00
Larger = $6.50
Mylar = $12.50

Oh and "Fast and Friendly Service"

While getting some work done on the plotter a couple of weeks ago, I needed the print shop to prepare 10 color copies on a 24X36 sheet.

They charged 6.35 a copy.

When I am asked to print extra copies for people, I charge 7.50 per 24x36.

This is in western Kentucky pricing. Not sure how upstate NY pricing would match.

I charge 2 dollars for a 24"x36". As noted above, it may actually be cheaper, if they are handy, to run them at a print shop. It is pretty easy to calculate the paper cost, ink cost is trickier, then there is the cost of the plotter and the time.

Hijack, read this question.

What is it like having prints run at a print shop? I have never had to do this. I was wondering if they would understand the scales.

Dumb question, I know, I have never had to do it. I wonder what it would be like to take a pdf to office depot have them print it out, if they could get the scales right and check it. I guess a small mom and pop shop is where you would want to go.

Okay I am just rambling now.

I use a print shop for everything over ledger size.

Email a pdf to the print shop with instruction for size of paper and to print at 100%. They call and/or text when it is ready.

24x36 $5 a copy
24x36 $4 to scan to pdf

Love it! I tried to do this and was told that the checklist did not allow for electronic submittals... Knowing better than to attempt reason I just shook my head and left.

I have NEVER been able to print a PDF drawing at the correct scale. Close sometimes, but never exact...

It is tough, but usually depends on what program creates the pdf.

The biggest thing that cause my prints to come out wrong are incorrect settings on the print page.

My current print command does not save any settings and goes back to factory settings between each print command. If anyone knows how to fix that, I'm listening.

The biggest problem I've seen as the cause of not printing to scale is when the option "fit to page" is selected. It usually goes to a factory setting of 98% or less to adapt the print to the margin settings for that size paper.

That will mess your scale up every time.

😉

Up here in Mohave Co they do allow for it for land divisions. They like the first submittal to be signed & sealed, along with being emailed the pdf. All subsequent submittals are just an emailed pdf. Any redlining they do, they just email back a pdf. Nothing in the ordinance, but just a reasonable & cooperative staff. Obviously after final approval, they neeed mylar to sign & record.

Still trying to get that first one through without some kind of redline comment. It's their job security I suppose, finding something "wrong". But the extra checking is always good for everybody, even if sometimes you just shake your head & roll your eyes.
