I believe this tactic falls under the guise of "strangling the chicken to increase the egg production". Please do keep us posted-?ÿ interesting approach to business and as others here have indicated, I would not be surprised to see this boomerang back upon the "complaintant".

@chuck-beresford?ÿ

I emailed the company's HR department with a run-down of what was said.?ÿ I'm hoping that's the end of it.

I was employed for a couple of years at an engineering firm.?ÿ I was their only licensed surveyor.?ÿ When it came time for me to leave I told the owner he had one week to tie up loose ends.?ÿ At the end of that week I left with well documented written notification.?ÿ Let's say the date was the fifteenth of the month.

Among a lot of other untied end was a final plat that needed to start its process up the food chain.?ÿ The first stop was the local city government's approval.?ÿ I had not signed the final plat before because corrections I had made weren't yet completed by the drafting department.?ÿ Oh well, I had warned the owner but it fell on deaf ears.

I get a phone call letting me know the plat approval was on the docket for the city council meeting.?ÿ I obtained a copy of the submittal and it bore my signature...dated the twenty fifth of the month.?ÿ A not so close examination of the document revealed visible pixels on my signature.?ÿ My old employer had cut-and-pasted my signature on a document after I had left his employment.?ÿ

I fired off enough certified letters to choke a mule.?ÿ The most important ones being the city engineer and the State Board.?ÿ Long story short my old employer lost his contract with the city (the client) and lost his Certificate of Authorization to offer professional services in Oklahoma.

He did try and sue me on the basis I had prepared the plat while still employed and the date of the actual signature was unimportant.?ÿ A judge thought different,?ÿ His suit against me was dismissed and he was ordered to pay my legal fees.?ÿ He lost big time on that deal.?ÿ

I still shut my eyes sometimes and remember his ranting and raving.?ÿ Things like that help me sleep at night. 😉

Another approach might be to agree to sign the plat (performed under your supervision) but only after they sign an agreement to pay you for your services. Sent him a proposal.

just fyi, I once worked for a large firm with practice to sign reproducible copies - I did not.?ÿ This firm also faxed seals w/signatures between offices to be placed on a plat as they did not have enough licensed surveyors to staff each office.?ÿ And, they thought nothing of revising a plat without the consent of the person signing.

Agree, take seriously as any complaint, no matter how baseless.

@jph Unblock his number to see if the message comes back.?ÿ If it doesn't, check with your carrier to see if there's another way to retrieve it.
